Everton are looking for reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window. The Toffees haven’t had the best start to the Premier League campaign this season. They are in 11th place in the 2026-27 League Table with 2 wins, 2 losses and 4 draws from 8 matches. Although the Toffees beat Newcastle United to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup [also known as the Carabao Cup], head coach David Moyes knows the win might not be enough. That is why the management are looking for a strong striker, with Icelandic forward Orri Oskarsson at the top of the list.
As per TEAMtalk, the Blues are aiming to secure Oskarsson by January. Oskarsson has impressed everyone with his talent and is the current skipper of Iceland’s men’s football team. Apart from Oskarsson, Everton are also considering a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. However, an official update is yet to be made from either side.
🚨 Everton are considering a January move for Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson as David Moyes looks to strengthen his attack. Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Brentford are also monitoring the 22-year-old Iceland international. Oskarsson has scored three goals in eight La Liga games this season, alongside five goals in six appearances for Iceland. (Source: @TEAMtalk)

Orri Oskarsson has made a solid impression with the La Liga club Real Sociedad this season. Out of the 8 matches played this season, Oskarsson has scored 3 goals. He joined the Spanish club in August 2024 for a fee of €20 million. Oskarsson previously played for FC Copenhagen between 2022 and 2024, though he was loaned out to Sønderjyske in 2023 for a brief spell.
Interestingly, Everton is not the only club interested in the Icelandic striker. Multiple clubs have shown their interest in Oskarsson. These include Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Brentford. Even Borussia Dortmund are monitoring Oskarsson’s performance in La Liga.
However, is Real Sociedad ready to let him go? The Icelandic striker signed a six-year contract with the Spanish club in August 2024, which will expire in 2030. Besides, Oskarsson has shown tremendous potential in the current La Liga season. That is why Real Sociedad aren’t in the mood to let off the Icelandic striker, at least for this season.
Oskarsson’s current market value is around €20 million to €22 million. So, in case an offer arrives for him, Real Sociedad wouldn’t let him go before receiving at least €40 million for a potential deal, especially when clubs like Dortmund and Everton are interested in the Icelandic striker.
So why do the Toffees want Oskarsson by their side in January? The Toffees desperately want a striker who could reduce the load on their only major striker, Thierno Barry. They had previously made attempts for Monaco player Folarin Balogun and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee. Sadly, none of those attempts succeeded.
Everton have never managed to enter the top ten of any Premier League edition for the last few years. Although they are placed 11th right now, David Moyes knows it will take more than just consistent performance to break into the top ten. The Toffees’ last great performance came in the 2013-14 edition, when they finished in fifth place under the leadership of manager Roberto Martinez. If the Toffees manage to convince Orri Oskarsson to join their club, he could help them achieve this target to some extent.
