FC 27 Ratings: This Luis Diaz Pace Downgrade Is Hard To Fathom

Bayern Munich, FC 27, Luis Diaz

Bayern Munich enjoyed a superb 2025/26 season, dominating on the domestic front to cruise to triumphs in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, while also making it to the final-four of the UEFA Champions League, only to be knocked out by eventual champions PSG.

Luis Diaz, who completed a high-profile €75 million (£65.5 million) from Liverpool over the summer played a key role in Bayern’s success, recorded 26 goals and 19 assists across 51 total appearances in all competitions for the Bavarian giants.

In addition to his skilfull dribbling ability and ruthless finishing, arguably Diaz’s most dangerous trait is his blistering pace, and he was often the player that broke through the lines of opposing defences when the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise dropped further back as make-shift playmakers.

For those keeping up with his performances for club and country, Diaz’s speed is quite clear to see. It appears EA Sports, however, have spent more time in the studio developing their newest game FC 27, than actually watching players in action on the field.

After a decent 2024/25 season with Liverpool, Diaz was rated 85 in FC 26, which was pretty accurate based on his displays on the pitch at the time. After he took his game to another level last season, he has earned himself a deserved upgrade, taking his rating to 88. However, his stats when it comes to pace have bafflingly been reduced from 88 to 82.

Along with passing the eye test, Diaz is also one of the quickest players in the Bayern Munich team from a statistical point of view. With a top speed of exactly 34.14 km/h ( 21.21 mph), he ranks third in the Bayern squad for the 2025/26 season, behind only Konrad Laimer (35.46 km/h) and Alphonso Davies (35.29 km/h).

In addition to this, there are also plenty of visible inconsistencies in EA Sports’ player ranking algorithm.

Fellow winger Michael Olise’s top speed peaked at 34.11 km/h (21.20 mph), but he has somehow been ranked a point higher in the pace department.

These inconsistencies are even more exaggerated when comparing Diaz’s numbers to other popular players from other clubs.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, who peaked at a top speed of 36.21 km/h, has been ranked 11 points higher than Luis Diaz when it comes to pace, and stunningly, even FCB Femeni striker Claudia Pina, who’s top speed is actually 3.44 km/h slower than Diaz, is somehow ranked a whopping 9 points higher than the Colombian star.

Considering all this, Luis Diaz probably has the right to feel slightly hard done by his ratings for FC 27. Bayern fans will hope he uses any potential disappointment as fuel to take his performances up another notch.
