Barcelona eye World Cup star tied to his club until 2031

Barcelona, Pedro Porro, Tottenham Hotspur

The World Cup had provided an excellent stage for players to showcase their abilities onto the pitch, with players earning contracts from clubs right after the cup ended, and one such player who showcased his prowess is being eyed by the Blaugrana.

The Spanish Right-back Pedro Porro has been linked to a move to F.C Barcelona for the past few weeks, with the player himself expressing desire to return to Spanish side to utilize his prime to the fullest.

But why Pedro Porro?

Hansi Flick’s system has been outshining other clubs constantly as the season progresses, with the club achieving peak fluidity and attacking grip on the field, which is where Porro enters.

Porro’s style of play seems to be the most suitable for Hansi Flick. With Porro showing his strength in being an attacking right back, making deep runs and being a looming threat, even as a defender.

An important factor to be considered is the chemistry Pedro holds with Lamine Yamal.

The World Cup showcased us how Pedro constantly assists Lamine Yamal by suiting to the spanish playstyle completely and being a deep running Right-back Lamine Yamal can rely on.

Porro played a behemoth amount of minutes at the World Cup. 564 minutes and scoring 2 goals for the Spaniards is not seen as a small move. Maintaining a pass accuracy of 94% and winning the World Cup only proved the Right Back’s ability with the ball.

However, looking at the move financially, Barcelona may need to sanctions releases for players like Jules Kounde to make this move possible for the club.

With Kounde receiving less play time due to constant rotations as per Hansi Flick, Porro seems to be a better suited option for the club.

With Spurs extending the contract of Porro till 2031, the English club reportedly won’t be looking for negotiation but there is a feeling that Porro has already made his mind to make the move.
