Arsenal’s luxury of having multiple players for the same position has seen multiple gaps off late. While injuries to key players like William Saliba has hampered their defense to an extent, their depth in the striker position also seems to be depleting.
Viktor Gyokeres might be in the way out and is reported to be forcing a move out of the north London Club following a struggling start to his 26/27 Premier League season. Kai Havertz has been Mikel Arteta’s go-to player for the striker position but their depth is immensely thin in that regard.
The club is en route to fill those exact spots as they eye Club Brugge’s Nicolò Tresoldi as per The Sun. Tresoldi, 22 has been one of the most promising strikers of the generation. Despite his age, Tresoldi embodies goal scoring consistency. In 12 games this season, Tresoldi has scored 9 goals and has recorded an assist for Club Brugge, as per Transfermarkt.
It’s important to note that while most of these goals have come in the Belgian league, his tally also includes a stellar hat-trick against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. This quietly indicates that Tresoldi can step up in pressure situation and important European Nights, which is exactly what a club like Arsenal is looking for.
Standing at 6’1, Tresoldi has a long wingspan and strides. His movements inside the box and the final third are pretty immaculate, always making him a threat for the defenders in that region. While he hasn’t come across top center-backs week in and week out, his ceiling for growth and development is immensely high, considering what his promising stats. In Arteta’s 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 system, Tresoldi can fit seamlessly where he can link up well with wingers like Bukayo Saka and even inverted fullbacks like Riccardo Calafiori and Jurriën Timber.
Tresoldi’s price is quite substantial as well given his skill sets as a player. However, the issue with this move is that Club Brugge’s intentions to sell the player. As per reports from The Sun, Brugge rejected a 35M pounds proposal from Roma, indicating a long-term plan with the player. In that case, the Gunners will have to spend some bucks to get Brugge interested in this regard.
The positive scheme of things for Arsenal is that they reportedly share a good relationship with Brugge. The Gunners even landed Christos Tzolis from them. However, Tresoldi does have a soft spot for AC Milan, his favourite childhood club. Reports from Bavarian News works suggests that Milan is interested in pursuing a deal for him as well. This can be a major caveat for the Gunners in landing Tresoldi at the Emirates.
For now, there haven’t been any reported conversations between the two parties and we can get a better outlook of it as the winter transfer window arrives in a few months.
