The new signing was a surprise starter ahead of the usual Joel Matip to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of Reds’ defence at Old Trafford.
The former RB Leipzig player grew into the game as he stamped his authority against Cristiano Ronaldo and co.
Liverpool romped to a 5-0 win and were comfortable for most parts.
The only time the home side showed a little fight was towards the end of the first half as few players from both sides collided with each other after Ronaldo’s cowardly kick on Curtis Jones.
Amid the frenzy, Fred tried to square up to Konate but ended up becoming a subject of laughter on Twitter.
Not sure what the 5′ 5″, 64 kg Man Utd midfielder expected going up against the 6′ 4″, 95 kg Liverpool defender.
