Despite the limitless riches and ample amounts of talent they have at their disposal, Paris Saint-Germain currently finds itself in a spot of bother.
Since league Football’s resumption following the World Cup. PSG’s form has been shaky, which paired with their usual locker-room politics makes for a sour period.
The Parisiens had been narrowly winning league games before eventually losing 3 in a row, with one of those defeats coming in the all-important Champions League.
It started off with PSG crashing out of the Coupe De France to Marseille, their next game saw another defeat at the hands of Monaco, which was followed up by a crucial loss against Bayern Munich.
Christophe Galtier’s side has fared better in subsequent games, but not without further cause for worry.
The concern came in the form of a key injury to the talismanic Neymar, the Brazilian was stretchered off after twisting his right ankle in a gruesome fashion during PSG’s 4-3 win against Lille.
With a notable history of ankle injuries, the 31-year-old is likely to be sidelined for a significant period of time, his exact return date is yet to be determined.
Neymar’s absence is a massive miss for the French outfit and another reason of disappointment for fans.
Their mood seemed to take an uplift after an interesting image popped up online, one that displayed Kylian Mbappe by Neymar’s side in a medical facility.
The duo have had a rocky relationship as of late, with reports in the media even suggesting that the Frenchman personally asked for Neymar’s departure from the club.
Naturally, the image of the pair together brought some delight to fans, who wondered whether Mbappe visited the injured Brazilian at the hospital.
Unfortunately, that is far from the case, the real story behind the picture does involve a hospital but not for similar reasons.
It was captured back in June of 2020 before the team started pre-season training.
The club organized a series of medical and physical checks at the American Hospital to get a gauge of the players conditions, and of course, Neymar and Mbappe were both present.
PSG’s YouTube account even shared a brief clip of Neymar’s tests, with Mbappe making a brief appearance in the video while sporting the same top and mask as the image.
The picture was likely captured on the same day, which confirms that it certainly isn’t recent.
Nevertheless, the video does show off their camaraderie at the time as both players seemed to enjoy each other’s company.
Since then, matters have changed for the worse, while there hasn’t been a full-blown fallout between the two, they’re certainly not on the same page either.
The question beckons: Will their friendship ever get better?
That remains to be seen, but in the spirit of extending an olive branch, we recommend a hospital visit.
