Michael Olise has been tearing up Europe ever since his move from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich in 2024.
He was a revelation for Bayern in his first season, scoring 20 goals and providing 23 assists. The current season has been even better as he has scored 16 goals and delivered 28 assists this season. The season is still not over.
The winger’s brilliance was once again as he started for Bayern in their game against St.Pauli in the Bundesliga. The match saw him deliver yet another fantastic performance, and he even scored a goal in the 54th Minute to make the score 3-0. The goal was a record-breaking 103rd goal for Bayern in the league this season.
However, a big highlight of his performance as of course, constant booing and items being thrown at him by the St Pauli fans.
A big reason for this reaction was due to Olise’s first-half battle against midfielder Joel Chima Fujita. The winger was doing extremely well at getting past the defenders; however, he was getting very frustrated at the harder tackles he was having to endure.
This led to the winger on one occasion shoving the defender and shouting at him, which immediately put him firmly in the radar of the St Pauli fans.
Their anger was further made worse when Olise doubled down on his performance by scoring a goal and then motioning to the crowd.

Most fans were in support of the winger as they noticed the reaction of the fans and backed the player’s reaction.

The winger was then subbed off in the 60th minute for his left side counterpart, Luis Diaz. However, the substitution wasn’t a regular one as Olise was booed off the pitch by the St Pauli fans.
The fans also hurled a projectile at him, but it was calmly dodged by the winger, and his only response was to show a thumbs-up to the fans.
Thumbs up, Michael Olise.

The reaction was later discussed by Bayern’s Sporting Director, Max Eberl, who defended Olise’s reactions to the crowd’s boos.
Max Eberl defends Michael Olise over his reaction towards St. Pauli fans: "He has emotions, he's an incredibly good footballer and of course he always has to expect to be teased and annoyed. “He has emotions, he’s an incredibly good footballer and of course he always has to expect to be teased and annoyed. That was the running duel in the first half, where both players pulled each other, then came the emotions from St. Pauli fans.”
“Michael was emotional, but I think he showed it with his performance on the pitch, and I think such emotions are part of a football game.”
It’s incidents like these that continue to bring out the best or worst side of both the fans and the players, and it is good to see that Olise did not let the reactions of the Pauli fans get the better of him.
However, some fans were intrigued by the fact that the player, who is known for not being emotional and always being nonchalant, decided to break character at this moment.
“Michael was emotional” we are hearing sentences that have never been said before. Love to see it

There was also a fan in the St Pauli who showed his support to Bayern for their match against Real Madrid on Wednesday. The fans support was acknowledged by bayern fans amongst criticism for the rest of the opposition.
Yeah, props to this fan, but the rest of the St. Pauli fans whistling and throwing things at Olise can go get F'd.

Many fans also saw the humourous side of the event and quoted a post about a peregrine falcon, comparing the photo to Olise’s usual celebration that involves shushing the crowd.

Despite all the reactions, it is easy to see that the events of Wednesday are something that were out of the ordinary. However, it is still far from the craziest things we have seen happen between players and fans. It was good to see the normally silent winger stand up for himself in the best way possible and continue to show the fans who he really is. The bayern fans loved it as much as the next person, unless of course the next person was a St Pauli Fan.
