Last night Paris Saint Germain wrapped up their UEFA Champions League semi-final berth after a 0-2 victory against Liverpool at Anfield.
The 4-0 aggregate scoreline over the two legs served as a reminder of the strength the Parisian club wields.
Leading them to this statement win was no one other than Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé. He came up with a brace to prevent any case of late game anxieties.
All the PSG fans in the stadium must have been pleased with their talisman gaining form at such an important point in the season. The French attacker chipped in with 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 games for the club across the season.
However, things have slowed down this season as the 28-year-old has struggled with injuries.
But after scoring the brace, he reminded the world of his attacking prowess and somehow even his celebration became much of a talking point, raising curiosity among the fans.
After a clinical left footed finish from outside the box, Dembele brought on the iconic call drop celebration in front of the fans.
The 28-year-old pretended to receive a call before ultimately deciding to hang up on it.
For many fans, this has become the subject of great curiosity, as the celebration wasn’t just any empty action but an intended statement.
According to first theory, posted by Dembele himself, this celebration was a reply to a content creator, Clyver De B, who shared a pretend call he had with the player.
In the short clip, on the fake call, the player tells everyone to calm down and assures that Paris is on their way to semi-finals.
The player himself tagged the content creator and captioned it with a long, “Alloooooo.”

The second most common theory refers to the recent developments around the French international and his ongoing contract renewal talks with the club.
According to reports earlier this year, the talks hit a stumbling block as the club is not prioritizing extending the player’s terms and will probably resume talks after the season is over.

This, of course, has raised many concerns and fueled a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Ballon d’Or winner and his possible move away from the side.
The Frenchman himself reiterated his priorities, speaking after the game, he said, “I’ve wanted to show my football for a long time, since last season. Every game, I want to help the team, with a goal or an assist or pressing the goalkeeper.” He added, “I try to give my best for PSG. I hope to have a wonderful end to the season, there are important deadlines.”
The third fan theory spawned from Dembele’s possible affinity towards Tennis stars.
Tennis great Novak Djokovic has also treated his fans with the same actions on court. He isn’t the only tennis player to do it, as American player and world number 6, Ben Shelton, originally made it popular, Djokovic, after beating Shelton, brought out the hung up call himself.

Could tennis have been the inspiration behind the spectacle yesterday, only Dembouz could say for certain.
