Curtis Jones To Inter Milan Rumours Intensify After Social Media Clues

Curtis Jones, Inter Milan, Liverpool

Curtis Jones has always been a player who occupied a unique emotional space at Liverpool.

A local boy from Liverpool, he joined the club’s academy as a child and grew up not just wearing the shirt, but representing the dream so many young Scousers carry.

His breakout moment came in January 2020, when he scored a stunning curling winner against Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield. The teenage Scouser settled the Merseyside derby in front of the Kop.

Jones went on to establish himself as part of Liverpool’s first-team squad under Jürgen Klopp, building a career defined by moments of promise and frustration. His quality has rarely been in doubt. He can glide through midfield, protect the ball under pressure and arrive in the box with composure.

Making 225 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 21 goals and assisting 25 times, Curtis Jones is still not considered an ‘untouchable’. With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, reports suggest that contract renewal talks have “effectively ceased”.

A player going into his last season, with contract talks stalling, always attracts interest. Similarly, Curtis Jones attracted interest from Inter Milan, reports suggesting it started in January of 2026. Nothing materialised at the time, with Liverpool unwilling to lose an established homegrown player mid-season, but the story did not disappear. As Jones’ contract situation became clearer, Inter’s name resurfaced.

Things got more interesting recently, when fans noticed Jones liking posts related to Inter Milan on instagram.

Inter clinched the title with a 2-0 win over Parma, a result that secured the club’s 21st Scudetto with three games to spare. Thuram handed the lead to Inter, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan adding the second, while Napoli dropping points against Como helped confirm Inter’s unassailable lead at the top

Jones was reported to have liked Marcus Thuram’s Instagram post celebrating the Scudetto win, while fans also noticed a like on Alessandro Bastoni’s title-celebration post. Reports also noted that Jones does not follow Thuram or Bastoni, making the interaction feel less like casual feed activity and more noticeable to supporters already tracking the transfer rumours.

In isolation, this would normally mean very little. Players like football posts all the time.

But because Inter’s interest had already been reported, with his contract situation remaining unresolved, the likes were quickly linked to the wider transfer story.

This sparked widespread discourse on social media. Liverpool fans were not happy.

For many, the frustration was not simply about Jones liking Inter posts, but about the timing. With transfer rumours already circulating and his long-term future still unresolved, the likes were interpreted by some supporters as unnecessary and uncomfortable. Jones is an academy product, a local player, so any suggestion that he may be entertaining a move naturally carries extra emotional weight.

Coming at a time when Liverpool is facing glaring issues in midfield, multiple fans believe the club will regret letting Jones go.

Fans expressed concern about the possible transfer, believing that Jones’ ability is superior to his teammates, wondering whether a possible transfer could be because of Jones coming from the academy, hence yielding pure profit for Liverpool through a sale.

Jones could add to the list of homegrown talent departing the club, joining Trent and Elliot in recent years.

Inter fans, meanwhile, viewed the situation through a very different lens. To them, Jones represents an exciting signing; a technically secure, Premier League-proven midfielder entering his peak years, with the profile to adapt well to Serie A.

Former Inter Milan forward, Antonio Cassano, also got involved. He reinforces that Jones will be an exciting signing, comparing him to Napoli star Scott McTominay, believing he will surpass the Scottish midfielder.

For now, there is still a long way between social-media activity and a completed transfer. Jones liking Inter-related posts does not prove he wants to leave Liverpool, nor does it mean Inter are close to striking a deal.

But it produces a clear and interesting talking point. Whether Liverpool loses one of their own or Inter gains what would be a marquee signing, it will be a story worth following with the summer window approaching.
