Leeds United have significantly bolstered their ranks for the upcoming 2026/27 Premier League season with the signing of highly touted winger Harry Wilson. The 29-year-old Welshman is joining the club on a free after his contract expired at Fulham.
Wilson is a product of the Liverpool academy and made a solitary appearance for the Reds in the EFL Cup in 2020. He first came to the limelight during a brief loan stint at Hull City in 2018 on the back of seven goals in 13 appearances.
However, Wilson’s true breakthrough arrived the following season with Derby County. The then 21-year-old played 40 times and scored 15 times under the tutelage of legendary midfielder Frank Lampard. The performance earned him a first taste of the Premier League the following year with another loan stint at AFC Bournemouth.
In 2021, Wilson returned to the Championship with Fulham and helped the West London club secure promotion to the top-tier. Consequently, his loan move was made permanent and the playmaker had ever since become a vital cog of the club.
Last year, Wilson enjoyed his best season till date, playing 36 Premier League games for the Cottagers to rack up 10 goals and seven assists.
The ascension came on the back of a failed transfer to Leeds in the summer. The Peacocks had courted Wilson heavily but failed to finalize the transfer with Fulham on deadline day.
Nevertheless, the club has now made amends by acquiring Wilson’s services without having to pay any transfer fees.

However, the question has naturally arisen of just how far Leeds have gone to make the deal work, and there seems to be little transparency on the internet.
What is the per week salary Harry Wilson getting at Leeds?
According to most reported sources, Wilson was on £55,000 per week during his final season at Fulham.
But as seen with most free transfers these days, the Welshman is expected to have received a significant salary hike at Leeds.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed just as much when breaking the news, but stopped short of mentioning any numbers.
Thought it has been speculated that Wilson was after a big long-term contract from any interested party back in January. Supposedly his last big payday on the back of his best ever season.
The most common figures floating around seem to suggest Wilson is on £120,000 per week salary.
However, the figure seems inconceivable, since Leeds’ highest paid player Dominc Calvert-Lewin was also earning a relatively modest £100,000 per week in 2025/26.
If true, the Leeds wage structure would take a big hit, considering only a handful of players earn upwards of even £70,000 as of now.
But there’s a counterpoint as well considering this is a free transfer. At 120k per week, it would cost Leeds £24 million on a 4 year deal, which is not bad for a player at his peak in the Premier League.
Fulham and Leeds fans at war over Harry Wilson’s unknown wages
Fulham fans are using the reported high wage figures as a justification to let Wilson go despite him proving his mettle last year.
“Loved Harry’s goals & will always be grateful for his contribution but £120k is what I’ve heard he’s on at Leeds & a 4yr deal. There’s no way Fulham should do that. Not with a new guy coming in who’s focus is on youth!” a Fulham fan account opinionated on X.
“Got no problem with Harry Wilson moving on. At 29, we’ve seen the best of him in a Fulham shirt, and however you dress it up, he’s not worth £120k a week for the next 4yrs as a rotational squad player. However, replacing him is what worries me more”, wrote another Cottager echoing those sentiments.
Naturally, Leeds fans are pushing back against the idea, citing the reported figures as ridiculous.
“The copium is incredible. By tomorrow Harry Wilson will apparently be on £200k a week and asking for ownership of Elland Road”, an X post read.
DCL is on £90k a week.

You think we're giving Harry Wilson 33% more than that? Again though, if believing that helps you get over losing him, then don't let me get in the way of that 😂
Sounds like you've heard bugger all about how much he's getting at Leeds to me 😅
“Fulham are the real winners here. Leeds spending £350k a week on a 36 year old isn’t smart business whatsoever” another LUFC fan bantered, trying to mock the exaggerated Fulham claims online.
“You are talking utter nonsense. He’ll be on £750K a week, plus a goal bonus and a one week paid stay at Malmaison Leeds”, a reply took the joke even further.
With wage figures meant to stay confidential, this debate is not expected to end anytime soon. But Wilson helping Leeds improve on their 14th-place finish from last season might go a long way in shutting up the critics for good.
