Why Mia Khalifa Is Mad At Enzo Fernandez

Of all the Hollywood stardust and American sporting royalty that added glamour to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, few can claim to be as passionate as Mia Khalifa. The Lebanese-American entrepreneur and former adult film actress was in attendance at the final in the New York New Jersey Stadium, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to add a second star to their crest.

Khalifa was a major online conversation starter throughout the tournament. However, strangely enough her energies seemed largely invested in one particular agenda that had nothing to do with her roots.

Since the World Cup kicked off, Khalifa has been very vocal about her hate for La Albiceleste. The 33-year-old posted incessantly on social media rooting for whoever Argentina were playing on the night, but it is her recent upload making the most noise of all.

Following Spain’s triumph in Rutherford, Khalifa posted a collage on Twitter of Enzo Fernandez that quickly went viral. The split image contrasts the midfielder celebrating the equalizer against England in the semi-final, with him receiving the red-card in the summit clash against La Roja.

Khalifa’s sentiments seemed to have truly taken flight when they took on Mohamed Salah’s Egypt in the Round of 16.

Unfortunately for her, the Africans ended up losing 3-2 in a controversy riddled-game which came to be described as ‘rigged’ in most footballing circles.

In fact, Khalifa’s angst even made her go against deeply trenched liberal political beliefs. Thee 33-year-old went so far as to say she’d rather have “colonial superpower” England take the World Cup than “VAR warriors” Argentina before they clashed in the semis.

Even though the Three Lions ended up defeated, it did not stop Khalifa from launching more jabs at Argentina. She posted multiple tweets referencing Jude Bellingham’s hitting Argentine reserve Valentin Barco post-game, saying she might buy the Real Madrid man’s jersey for the slap alone.

Khalifa claims her hate stems from the widespread narrative of Argentina receiving favourable calls from the Virtual Assistant Referee system. She has labelled Argentina as an “evil empire” with Lionel Messi at its heart.

The former adult star made her loyalties clear at the final too by appearing donning a Lamine Yamal Barcelona jersey. Khalifa in the run-up to the clash had posted vociferously in support of the teenager.

In fact, such was Khalifa’s belief in Spain’s young cast that she placed a million dollars on them to emerge triumphant. As luck would have it, she ended up with $1.65 million at the end of it all, adding to the joy of seeing Argentina crushed.

Admirably, Khalifa’s interest in sports and football is no recent bandwagon phenomenon. She has hosted multiple sports podcasts over the last decade discussing hockey, basketball, American football, and even the Premier League.

Khalifa has also claimed to be a West Ham United fan in the past. She first watched them live against Arsenal at the London Stadium in 2019, and has been to multiple matches since. However, it is safe to say that Khalifa’s hate for Argentina seems to dwarf her love for any other football team.
