60M euros forward on the way out as Arsenal eye an Odegaard favourite

Antonio Nusa, Arsenal, Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres’ move to Arsenal has been one of the most bizarre stories around the Premier League in recent years. Deemed a potential superstar, Gyokeres was tearing apart the Primeira Liga with Sporting CP and was even named the best player of the league in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

However, since his star-studded move to North London, that magic has faded. Although he scored 21 goals in 55 games last season, his performances were largely inconsistent and, of course, not up to the standards that Arsenal needs to compete for the major trophies. His inconsistency has been reflected perfectly in his game time this season as well.

As per Transfermarkt, Gyokeres has played just 299 minutes in 7 games. Additionally, he has neither scored nor assisted a goal in this time frame. This clearly indicates that the Swedish striker is no longer the most formidable option for the Gunners this season, as he has relatively fallen behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order, and his stint at the Emirates is far from what he had imagined coming into the Premier League.

According to certain sources, Gyokeres’ days with the Gunners are also looking numbered. Reports from Sports Illustrated and Tutto Juve say Arsenal has kept a price tag of 60M Euros for Gyokeres’ sale. Italian giants Juventus are looking interested in the player, but the price tag seems to be too much at the moment for Gyokeres.

This decision around Gyokeres can be a calculated move from the North London club, especially considering that they will be taking their chances to land Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. If Arsenal actually manages to sell the Swedish forward for that amount, it will be a small financial boost for the club as well.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s team might also be looking at some incoming players either in the winter transfer window or next season. As per reports from Football Insider, club captain Martin Odegaard is pushing the club’s front office to sign Antonio Nusa. A Norwegian international, Nusa has been Odegaard’s teammate in the national team and can play both as a winger and an attacking midfielder.

At 21, Nusa plays regularly for RB Leipzig and has even scored 5 goals and recorded 4 assists last season across all competitions. A dynamic player with strong acceleration and fine touches, Nusa is an embodiment of creativity and talent. All in all, Nusa can be a perfect future investment for the Gunners at this moment, where he can even learn from his national team captain, Odegaard.

However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation about Arsenal tipping off any talks with Leipzig for the player. But with the January winter transfer window a few months away, we can expect more updates around this move.
