If there’s one way to defend your Premier League title, then it’s definitely the way Liverpool are handling their business this window.
The Merseyside club has been on fire lately in this summer transfer window, snapping up the likes of Florian Wirtz Frimpong from Leverkusen, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt.
With Ekitiké recently recruited, this takes Liverpool’s total summer spending to around £295–300 million.
Liverpool have also generated approximately £54 million–£64 million from player departures like the sales of Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8–8.4m), Caoimhín Kelleher (£12.5–18m), Jarell Quansah (£30M), and more.
But in a summer where Liverpool fans have seen their club be busy with both ins and outs in terms of their squad, they have relied on a rather unexpected source for breaking news this window.
That source is the X account and the ITK insider IndyKalia news.
IndyKalia News is an insider X account, or in other words, a freelance journalist who reports mainly Liverpool transfer exclusives and even covers Premier League news.
Indy, who joined X in 2012, has a following of 470.7K followers, with the likes of reputed journalists like David Ornstein of The Athletic, Patrick Berger, and Dharmesh Seth of Sky Sports, and even David Amoyal following him.
This summer, Indy has been aggressively giving exclusives to Liverpool fans on all their transfer targets and beyond.
Firstly, in terms of Liverpool’s biggest deal, Indy broke the Florian Wirtz news first, stating that Liverpool are interested in him and will move for him on 8th April, even in a time when the German was linked to Manchester City.

This was later confirmed by reputed journalists across the spectrum, including the likes of Athletic’s David Ornstein.
In fact, IndyKalia even broke the news of the agreement of the deal in place for Wirtz on 30th May, 2025, 13 days before reputed journalists like Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano broke the same news.
Further, the ITK has covered all aspects of Liverpool’s business this summer, including covering incomings like the Jeremie Frimpong deal and even contract situations like agreeing to a new contract with club captain Virgil Van Dijk.
But his major exclusive came in terms of Aleksandar Isak, the Swedish striker of Newcastle United, who has been linked with a move away recently.
Indy’s exclusive came way before anyone even broke the news, when on 10th April, even before the completion of the last campaign, he had reported stating that if Newcastle struggles to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool would be in pole position to sign the striker.
However, when Newcastle eventually qualified for the UCL and when there was no news surrounding Isak, many Liverpool fans believed that maybe the move was indeed far from happening.
But on the 17th of June, Indy dropped an exclusive again, stating that the Swedish striker had informed his agent that his dream move is to play for Liverpool FC.
Later on the 1st of this month, the ITK further doubled down and stated that the striker had even informed Newcastle United, his club, that he wishes to move to Liverpool.
Further on the 15th of July, he gave more details of his Isak scoop, stating that the player doesn’t rule out forcing a move away if the transfer doesn’t materialize, even stating that NUFC had given up all hopes on keeping the player this season.
This is the real time situation on Alexander Isak.

The player has told his agent that Liverpool would be his dream move & if @NUFC are willing to sell then he love to go on good terms.
The player hasn’t ruled out forcing the move this summer.
Hugo Ekitike has been told, he…
This is where things took a turn.
After reporting that the player is forcing a move, reputed Telegraph journalist and Newcastle United correspondent Luke Edwards shot down Indy’s claim and called it “complete rubbish.”
Complete rubbish. Thanks for coming https://t.co/EtO0CfSAEc
— Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) July 14, 2025
Indy soon replied to Luke and hilariously stated,
Brother. I’m just kid who works in KFC 🙌
For those unaware, this is an ongoing gag or joke in the football Twitter space, as Indy comically has referred to him as a worker from KFC in the past, mainly due to his unreliable claims in the past.
Indy Kalia wasn’t as reliable as he is right now, and many fans made fun of his reporting style, often jokingly giving him the tag of a KFC worker tweeting or impersonating a known journalist.
But it turns out this rumor indeed might have been true and not just Indy’s sarcastic comments.
In 2019, even KFC UK tweeted about him, stating that he needed to go back to work and get on with the “fryers.”
This led to a lot of suggestions that he indeed might have been working as a part-time KFC employee for years.
This beef between reporter Luke Edwards and Indy didn’t just stop there, however.

Luke further reported after calling out Indy that Isak is not for sale this summer in spite of an inquiry from Liverpool.
He also reported that the striker is not agitating to leave NUFC, contrary to the exclusive of Indy, and that the news of him wanting a move is a deliberate ploy to try and unsettle the striker.
A few days later, the Telegraph journalist also reported that Liverpool have been told Isak isn’t for sale to anyone by Newcastle and that they have made this very ‘clear.’
He also called out the ITKs across the X space for being ‘fraudulent’ and spreading false information, and tripled down on his claim that Isak wasn’t for sale.
I will repeat for the hard of hearing. Alexander Isak is not for sale this summer. Not to Liverpool. Not to Saudi Arabia. Not to anyone. No amount of fake news, fraudulent in the know chancers or selective quote using aggregator accounts will alter that stance from Newcastle…

Luke Edwards calling out Indy, however, didn’t sit right with Liverpool fans who were backing the ITK and calling for Edwards’s head.
Newcastle, who have had a nightmare of a window up until now, have missed out on key targets like James Trafford, who’s going to Manchester City; Joao Pedro, who went to Chelsea; Mbeumo, who signed for Man United; Yoane Wissa, who they are struggling to get for their striker position; and even missed out on Ekitike to Liverpool, who was their no. 1 striker target.
And Liverpool fans were there to rub salt into these fresh wounds.
One fan stated,
“You also said James Trafford was a done deal, so forgive us for not taking your word over actual reliable journalists.”
Luke had previously reported that the James Trafford deal was ‘pretty much done’ and agreed to by Newcastle by the end of June, only to be proven wrong weeks later when Trafford agreed to a deal with his academy club, Manchester City, as reported by Fabrizio Romano and other journalists.
Another rather excited Liverpool fan fully crashed out on the Telegraph journalist and stated,
Your head’s gone, lad. Indy put your journalist career in a spliff and smoked it.
The telegraph reporter has previously also been seen to be called out for inconsistent reporting this summer.
Liverpool gave Newcastle an ultimatum when they inquired about Isak a few weeks ago.
It was that if they weren’t going to budge over Isak, then the Merseyside club would go for their striker target Eiktike instead.
This news was discarded by Edwards when he reported that NUFC were ‘unflustered’ by Liverpool’s attempts to unsettle Isak and that they were ready to push ahead and bid for Ekitike.
However, no bid was ever made officially by Newcastle, and Ekitike ended up signing for Liverpool instead.
Further, fans, especially Liverpool fans, started calling Luke out for his inconsistent reporting over deals, like James Trafford or Alexander Isak more recently, and especially when Newcastle had missed out on other important targets like Bryan Mbuemo to Manchester United and even Joao Pedro to Chelsea.
In response to this, Edwards posted a tweet stating that there will be an article in the Telegraph coming out written by him the next day, which will explain this ongoing situation of new deals and why Newcastle are struggling this summer to land their targets
This added further gasoline to the ongoing internet beef between Indi Kalia and Luke Edwards, because Indy sarcastically replied to this post of Luke by stating,
“At what time, Luke? I need to set my alarm.”
Luke, however, responded by stating mockingly that Indy should keep his alarm early and that if he doesn’t have money for Luke’s Telegraph subscription, he would be more than happy to give him a free deal, taking a dig humorously, and further also made fun of Indy working as a KFC worker.
Set your alarm for early. If you don’t have a Telegraph subscription I’ll do you a deal, stop making stuff up and I’ll send you it for free. I do admire the hustle though. You’re very good. Nice little earner every month from Twitter supplements your KFC wages x

This is not the first time Luke Edwards of The Telegraph has managed to get into an internet beef with other rival clubs.
When Newcastle failed to land their transfer target for the winger position, Bryan Mbuemo, and lost him to Manchester United, the journalist was seen giving opinions and reporting that Mbuemo moved to the Red Devils for the higher wages, which Newcastle was not prepared to pay.

When, instead, it was widely reported that Mbuemo had rejected all other clubs for United because he was a boyhood United fan and only wanted to move out of his personal liking for the club.
He further also questioned how United had managed to find money to sign Mbuemo, especially when Bruno didn’t make his triple-digit move to Saudi Arabia, and also when Cunha was also signed for a considerable fee (above 60M).

But United fans were quick with their responses and called him out for his hypocrisy, especially when the club he reports on, Newcastle, is one of the richest clubs in the world with Saudi owners.
One fan stated,
This is @LukeEdwardsTele. He used to be a journalist, but these days he is nothing more than a mouthpiece for a sportswashing project who sings for their supper like a good boy. When a human being becomes a lackey.
Indy Kalia, however, has come out on top in this new episode of Internet Beefs.
But this wasn’t the case all the time.
The ITK who joined X in 2012 has had some troublesome and questionable transfer reporting in the past, which had earned him a tag of being a “meme ITK” and being unreliable.
In 2014, he had reported that the ex-Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, who was at Merseyside at that time, was in talks with Aston Villa and Southampton for a summer move.
This ended up being way off from reality, as Leiva ended up staying at Anfield and even called Indy out personally for spreading false information by replying to his post.
@indykaila so you giving wrong information to your followers.
— Lucas Leiva (@LucasLeiva87) August 31, 2014
In 2018, he reported that American winger Christian Pulisic and Thomas Lemar were both strong targets and potential signings for Liverpool, only for them to end up at Chelsea and Atlético Madrid, respectively.
Because of his unreliable claims in the past, Indy’s beef with Luke Edwards wasn’t the first altercation he had with a journalist.
In 2014, he was called out by The Sun’s journalist, Neil Custis, who is a Manchester United correspondent.
@indykaila and you don't work for any media outlet despite claiming you were in the FWA.
— Neil Custis (@ncustisTheSun) June 7, 2014
Indy had previously claimed he worked in the FWA (Football Writers’ Association) and was part of it as a journalist.
This was shot down by Neil as he stated that he had never heard of Indy in the FWA and that he never worked in any media outlet, let alone The FWA.
He was also called out by Custis for reporting a false UCL clause in Angel Di Maria’s contract when United signed him from Madrid in 2014.
In light of this unreliable name in the transfer market, they were off reporting and X for a while, only to return in 2022.
Indy Kalia news stated that a major club had taken legal action for their reporting and tried to damage their brand. But they managed to solve that and were back to report stuff online over X.
This was the time when things changed for the good, and IndyKalia News became more reliable and truthful in its reporting.
Indy recently stated that this was down to him recruiting 5 additional personnel who have helped him bring reputable and trusted information and grow his account and brand.
Right then. That was the whole recap of the biggest Internet beef of today. Well, sort of.
IndyKalia news recently, as of this summer, has surely reported a lot of scoops which have turned earned him a good reputation, including scoops on deals like Bryan Mbuemo’s move to Manchester United and his recent exclusive on Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle.
This recent form of reliable reporting has even won IndyKalia news, his agency, the Global Influencer Agency Of The Year award.
As Newcastle play Arsenal in the Singapore National Stadium in Singapore on the 27th of July, fans would hope that Eddie Howe and company can let the rumours on Isak go on mute and focus on preparation and getting fit for the upcoming season.
Liverpool, on the other hand, fresh off a defeat from AC Milan in their 2nd pre-season game, will play Yokohama FM next on Wednesday, 30 July at the Nissan Stadium in Japan.
Fans would hope that after signing Ekitike, their club can also manage to sign Isak from Newcastle, and if they manage to do that, let’s just say defending the league next season would get way easier for Arne Slot’s team.
