Eberechi Eze has returned to his boyhood club Arsenal. He spent five years in their academy before being released at age 13. The English winger has donned the iconic number 10 jersey at Arsenal. The question is will he become an option for us in our FPL team at £7.5m? Arsenal’s past trophy struggles were largely due to their weak attack in big games, and the signings of both him and Gyökeres signal a shift in Mikel Arteta’s approach to fixing the problem.

The Gunners’ attacking prowess is a huge boon for Eze’s FPL prospects. His underlying statistics from last season at Palace were impressive, and a move to a more dominant, possession-heavy team is likely to amplify his attacking returns. Last season, Eze was among the top performers in the league for expected goals (xG), shots, and dribbles, outperforming even Arsenal’s best players in some of these metrics.
The injuries to Bukayo Saka and Ødegaard could see the Englishman start against Liverpool at Anfield in his first match. We have seen the explosivity he offers, his linkup with Mateta last season was superb and could see this continue with Gyökeres at Arsenal. He is also great at free kicks having one disallowed against Chelsea in the first match of the season.
Eze could also be deployed on the left wing, where he has thrived in the past. This versatility is a major plus, as it ensures he will get plenty of game time, even with a squad filled with attacking options. His ability to dribble and create chances from wide or central positions makes him a dynamic threat that will be difficult for FPL managers to ignore.
The current issue with any Arsenal assets are the fixtures, they have arguably the toughest fixtures of the season, Liverpool at Anfield then after the international break they have Forest and Manchester City at home then after that Newcastle at St. James Park.

Eze is also a big game player, he played a pivotal role in a historic moment for Crystal Palace, scoring the winning goal in the 2025 FA Cup final against Manchester City. This was the first major trophy in the club’s history and ended a 119 year drought.
For FPL managers looking for a mid-priced midfielder with explosive upside, Eze is a fantastic option. He has the potential to become a true differential, offering high returns for a reasonable price. It is just the fixtures that make him an avoid, as witnessed before Arteta tends to play a very defensive team against stronger opponents. Eze should become a good option after the Newcastle fixture.
