Alexander Isak, the current British transfer fee record and Liverpool’s new signing from Newcastle stirred the hornet’s nest when there was a photo was shared showing a shirtless picture of him in training.
Social media erupted and started making fun of his physique and said that he was underweight for the Premier League. His physique was compared to traditionally well-built physiques of Haaland and Gyokeres.

There were also borderline racist comments on his Eritrean heritage and some misattributed comments saying he was Somali.
Standing at 6 feet 3 inches (191 cm) and weighing 77 kg (170 lbs), Alexander Isak has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of approximately 21.2, which falls comfortably within the normal weight range of 18.5 to 24.9.
For a male of his height, the typical ideal weight is slightly higher, between 79.8 and 98 kg (176–216 lbs), depending on factors such as body frame and muscle mass.
While Isak’s weight is a bit below this range, it still reflects a healthy, lean, and athletic build.
As a professional footballer, his physique is finely tuned for performance, striking a balance between strength, agility, and endurance. This lighter, athletic frame perfectly complements his style of play, which relies on speed, mobility, and fluid movement rather than sheer physical bulk.
He also has a great combination of mobility, ball control and intelligent movement. A style of play which was reminiscent of the legendary Thiery Henry and Kanu, players who used well timed runs to create space and goal scoring chances. Their style of play like Isak made them deadly in the box and a nightmare for defenders. Defenders would always have to be on guard when marking such players as their speed and agility would make it difficult in marking them in tight spaces.
Despite his towering height, Alexander Isak doesn’t fit the mold of a traditional target man. Instead, he blends his aerial strength with outstanding technical ability, speed, and agility. This combination makes him highly versatile, capable of thriving anywhere along the front line, whether leading the attack as a central striker or drifting into wider positions, adding fluidity and creativity to his team’s offensive play. His sharp understanding of the game, intelligent off-the-ball movement, and clinical finishing make him a constant threat in the attacking third.
The physical attributes of Isak are also backed by an outstanding record at Newcastle. Isak made 109 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle and scored 62 goals in addition to 11 assists from 2022 to 2025.
His record in the Premier League was especially spectacular with 54 goals and 9 assists in 86 appearances. He was also Newcastle’s top scorer with 21 league goals in the 2023-24 season and in the 2024-25 season, he scored 23 league goals. The final season at Newcastle saw him being the 2nd highest scorer in the league behind only Mo Salah.
If his physique is being mocked due to one picture, his record in the Premier League should also make you stand in awe. He was the fastest to score fifty Premier League goals in Newcastle’s history surpassing the legendary Alan Shearer. He also holds the club record for eight consecutive Premier League goals scored and five consecutive away Premier League goals scored. In addition, he also scored the decisive goal in the 2025 Carabao Cup final which saw Newcastle winning their first trophy in seventy years.
To judge Alexander Isak by a single photo is to miss the essence of who he is as a footballer. One snapshot cannot define a player who has spent the last three seasons tearing through Premier League defences with elegance, intelligence, and ruthless precision.
At 6’3”, Isak isn’t just tall, he’s a paradox of power and grace, a forward whose fluid movement and razor-sharp instincts have drawn inevitable comparisons to the legendary Thierry Henry. Mock the picture if you must, but the numbers and the football speak louder.
