FC 26 Butchers Liverpool New Signing Alexander Isak with Hairstyle No Fan Has Ever Seen

Alexander Isak, FC 26, Liverpool

Aleksander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool might have been one of the biggest transfer stories in recent years of the Premier League, with Liverpool and Newcastle fighting tooth and nail for the player, with the latter eventually receiving £125 million as the ebbs of deadline day approached. The constant back-and-forth between the two clubs provided little respite for the Liverpool faithful who waited with bated breath for the official announcement to drop. Flights were tracked, reporters were flagged on tier lists, rumours and gossip channels ran amok with the story, making it the most controversial story of the summer calendar.

With Isak now well and truly a Liverpool player, although a small percentage of fans are still pinching themselves, the latest story surrounding the player has taken the footballing community by storm. And, by footballing community, we mean the football gaming community, you know, fans of esports games the FIFAs, the PESes and the likes. Isak doesn’t seem able to catch a break!

EA Sports FC, the new name for the much-coveted FIFA series, needs absolutely no introduction. However, for the uninitiated, the EA FC series is a part of Electronic Arts’ long line of sports simulation games. It is the crown jewel of a company famous for producing yearly sports titles like WWE 2K, F1, NBA 2K, etc., bringing in revenue in the ballpark of billions of dollars for the American video game company.

The EA FC (or FIFA) franchise has become synonymous with the sport in itself, with millions of players globally getting excited every year to play the game’s latest iterations.

After all, getting the in-game player models to look exactly like their real-life counterparts is an achievement that the game series developers have prided themselves on for almost two decades of game development. Fans from all over the world have engaged in debates on how accurate their players look. With state-of-the-art photography techniques, best-in-class motion-capture, and licenses for most major international leagues and clubs, EA usually delivers the best likenesses possible, with their in-game models looking, sprinting, and dribbling almost as well as a simulation game can possibly offer.

The cult-like following of the series generates massive buzz on every squad update, with EA editors, often overworked, doing everything they can to perfect their newest addition. However, as is sometimes seen, some details tend to be hit-or-miss. The games have also drawn criticism for rampant microtransactions, scripted online matches, and gameplay tweaks that are often unintuitive, focusing more on visual aesthetics than actual control.

Aleksander Isak’s new player reveal was very much a huge miss. With an outdated hairstyle that nobody has ever actually seen him in, the EA editors dropped the ball on a reveal that left fans dumbfounded and upset at the shocking glare. In a massive triple-A game, mistakes are natural, and fans usually tend to overlook a longer beard or narrower shoulders. However, we really don’t think that an outdated high-top hairstyle would make anyone happy.

One user pointed out EA’s error by calling out their false bravado and pride in showcasing what was ultimately lazy editing.

Ironically, Isak has been known to sport a skinfade buzz cut since his arrival in England, with many fans having no recollection of him ever having longer hair. The EA mishap is truly a mistake to behold and is not something you would expect from a billion-dollar franchise. In a way, EA’s mistake also reflects on how the gaming series has devolved over the years from what began as a true football simulation to this corporate moneyspinner, an overarching narrative into Electronic Arts as a company who prioritizes quantity over quality and quick, headline-grabbing updates over sophisticated developments.
