Old Tweets Reveal Chelsea Defender Tosin Adarabioyo Might Secretly Be an Arsenal Fan

Arsenal, Chelsea, Tosin Adarabioyo

Eagle-eyed fans on Twitter recently dug up Tosin Adarabioyo’s old tweets which have caused a bit of controversy among fans and rivals alike. Tosin joined Chelsea in 2024, on a free transfer from West London rivals, Fulham. His youth career saw him prominently play for Manchester City, where he spent 17 years of his career. He would then go on to win the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, both in his first season with the Blues.

Under Enzo Maresca’s reign, Tosin was a crucial rotational player last season and now has been called up to fill the shoes of injured first choice centre-back Levi Colwill. As good as he was in the 24/25 campaign, his form this season has taken a turn for the worse, and these old tweets could not have resurfaced at a worse time.

One of the tweets that was dug up caused a stir online, “Looks like Spurs will be ripping up the Champions League next season…”, quoted the 28 year old in a tweet from 2012. This caused a fair bit of mockery towards Chelsea fans as one of their players spoke praise about their bitter rivals, Tottenham.

On the other hand, some more tweets by the English centre-back resurfaced, but this time he was praising yet another one of Chelsea’s bitter London rivals, Arsenal. “Lovely goal by Arsenal”, quoted Tosin in a tweet from 2013.

What took things from bad to worse was another tweet that threw praise at the famous Invincibles team from 03/04. “The Invincibles is not just Arsenal’s best team but for me THE best team ever.” This has caused further controversy towards the defender from Chelsea fans as this discovery inspired a fair bit of mockery from rival fans, some of which calling Tosin a ‘secret agent’ towards causing Chelsea’s downfall.

Tosin is yet to officially react with a statement towards this controversy, and is quite unlikely to do so in the foreseeable future. It has often been the case when players support clubs different to the ones they are playing in.

This isn’t the first time something like this has taken place, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Gareth Bale openly admitting to having been fans of Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively. This puts it in retrospect that footballers are also human and are allowed to support clubs which are different to the ones they play for.
