Aston Villa’s transformation under Unai Emery has been one of the defining stories of English football in recent years.
That rise reached another major milestone in the Euorpa League final at Istanbul as Villa beat Freiburg 3-0 to secure their third European Trophy.
However, something was notably different in the Aston Villa kit.

The club were unable to wear their usual Betano sponsorship in Turkey due to restrictions around gambling advertising.
Instead, Betano stepped aside and allowed Villa to display the Aston Villa Foundation logo.
Betano became Aston Villa’s principal partner in 2024, but that agreement is now moving toward its conclusion.
Premier League clubs will need to remove gambling brands from the front of matchday shirts from the 2026/27 season and Villa are among the clubs looking for a new main sponsor.
One name has now emerged as particularly interesting: Audi, the German automotive manufacturer.
At this stage, there has been no official hint confirming Audi as the club’s next front-of-shirt sponsor.
However, speculation has increased following confirmation of a high-profile pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in Hong Kong.
The match will take place at Kai Tak Stadium on Friday, August 7, 2026, and has been branded the ‘inaugural Audi Football Summit’.
With Villa needing a new front-of-shirt sponsor and Audi now prominently attached to one of their biggest pre-season fixtures, the link has naturally led to rumours about whether the German automotive giant could be part of Villa’s next commercial chapter.
As the rumours picked up speed, a picture of the leaked Aston Villa home kit for 26/27 surfaced on ‘X’, with the Audi logo of 4 interlocking rings as the front-of-shirt sponsor.
This picture was later reposted by Stan Collymore, causing people to believe that this was indeed an official kit.
The former Aston Villa player took to captioned the X post with the words ‘Vorsprung Durch Technik’. Audi’s famous slogan meaning ‘advancement through technology’.

A deeper analysis of this image led to one of the most trusted sources for kit leaks, ‘footyheadlines‘, mentioning that it is probably photoshopped, with the Audi logo later to the counterfeit kit digitally.
Nothing is confirmed as of now, but this partnership makes sense commercially for all parties involved.
Audi is looking to increase its brand presence in the Premier League market, and Aston Villa, a rising, ambitious team with Champions League football now secured, looks to be the perfect team to partner with.
Whether the four rings appear on Villa’s shirts next season remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Aston Villa’s rise has made them a club major brands can no longer ignore.
