Manchester United signed Leny Yoro for around £59M from French outfit Lille on a five-year deal, which also includes a one-year extension option.
Yoro arrived at the Theatre of Dreams with lofty expectations of improving the Red Devils’ backline after impressing in Ligue 1.
However, the 20-year-old is yet to establish himself in the first-team and his future at the club looks uncertain at the moment.
In his debut season, he was in and out of the starting eleven, and also missed several games during the campaign due to a foot and ankle injury.
During the second season, he was fully fit and became a regular starter in a back three, under then-manager Ruben Amorim.
But under current head coach Michael Carrick in the ongoing season, he is yet to start a game in the Premier League, making only two substitute appearances so far.
Yoro has fallen down the pecking order, and Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez are all ahead of him in the eyes of boss Carrick.
And now it seems Manchester United could send Yoro on a loan in the winter transfer window, to give him the opportunity to get regular game time.
According to Football Insider, the Red Devils are ready to listen to loan offers for Yoro in the upcoming January transfer window.
The decision to send Yoro on a loan could receive divided reactions from the supporters, as he was one of the most consistent names on the team sheet and put in strong performances in all competitions last campaign.
Besides that, De Ligt is currently sidelined due to a back injury, and Martinez is being assessed by the medical team to not rush him back into the side to ensure fluid load management after he was heavily involved with the national team.
Ayden Heaven, who is a young academy graduate and Maguire will be the only option left in the event Yoro leave in the winter on a loan deal.
Yoro is a versatile defender; he has been deployed as a centre-back, right-back, and left-back, and could put in a decent shift across the backline.
It remains to be seen which clubs will come in during the winter transfer window to take Yoro away from Manchester United on a loan deal.
Yoro still has three years remaining on his current deal, and it could also be extended, which only shows Manchester United’s trust in his potential.
