In the summer transfer window, Liverpool were close to signing Ismaila Sarr and made a lucrative offer for him, but Crystal Palace rejected the approach.
The Reds wanted to add more depth to their attack on the flanks, especially after the departure of club legend Mohamed Salah to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The Merseyside club ultimately signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna and spent big to acquire Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
Following Sarr’s failed move to Anfield, it was believed that he had refused to train, and his future at the club remains up in the air.
This term, Ismaila Sarr missed a couple of games at the start of the season due to a groin injury, but despite being fit, he has not featured regularly in the first team in the Premier League.
According to Football Insider, a potential move to Liverpool in the upcoming winter transfer window is now believed to be unlikely for Ismaila Sarr.
Crystal Palace are working on a contract extension with Sarr, as despite his slow start to the season under manager Pierre Sage, he remains a key member of the squad.
Turkish side Galatasaray are plotting to make a move for Sarr in the upcoming winter transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to lure him away from Sellhurst Park.
At Liverpool, Bradley Barcola has impressed on both flanks, and he has quickly slotted into the starting lineup under manager Andoni Iraola.
During Liverpool’s encounter against LASK in the UEFA Champions League, Barcola bagged a stunning hat-trick to help the Reds secure a comfortable victory.
Andoni Iraola was quoted as saying by ESPN, when asked about Barcola’s performance, he not only praised the Frenchman but also hailed Florian Wirtz: “I’m really happy for Bradley because you were asking me yesterday about him not making the numbers, also Florian [Wirtz].
“I think both of them today played really well. I think they made a difference. Bradley, apart from the hat trick, I think he was a threat always — one-v-one, threatening in behind.”
“Also, Flo helped us a lot to control the game, finding the pockets. I’m happy for both of them.
“I think their confidence, for sure, is very good. I think they feel that we trust them a lot. But at the end, to enjoy a little bit playing in the Champions League away, I think it’s going to be very good for them.”
Both Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola were signed for huge transfer fees, and while it took some time for Wirtz to settle into the team, Barcola has become one of the key players in the attack.
Besides that, Cody Gakpo has also returned from injury, while Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha have started to get regular minutes as backup options.
Liverpool recently secured a comfortable victory over Brighton in the Premier League, and next they are due to lock horns with Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
The Reds’ front line seems to be gelling with each other quite nicely, as Barcola and Gakpo have impressed on the wings, while Alexander Isak has started to score consistently.
