Kylian Mbappe brings back ‘Henrying’ after matchwinner against Rennes

Kylian Mbappe brings back ‘Henrying’ after matchwinner against Rennes

PSG left it late and managed to clinch a scrappy 1-0 victory over Rennes in the Ligue 1.

Despite the abundance of attacking talents at the Parisiens disposal, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were unable to breach a stern Rennes until the very last minute of the game.

PSG put together a sweeping move, which eventually led to Messi sliding into a pass for Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman, who still had quite a bit to do, kept his composure and produced a precise finish, winning the game for his side.

His celebration was as cold as the finish, and Mbappe paid tribute to a similarly pacey Frenchman from yesteryear.

After scoring, the 23-year-old didn’t let the Adrenaline spring him into a passionate celebration, instead, he nonchalantly jogged on over to the corner flag and leaned on it.

At the time, this seemed like an ordinary low-key celebration, but some time later Mbappe took to Twitter and revealed the inspiration behind it.

He tagged former French international Thierry Henry and wrote ‘Big up Legend’, and also added a picture of his celebration alongside Henry’s famous corner flag lean back in 2013.

Henry’s original celebration became quite popular and was even referred to as ‘Henrying’.

If the present is anything to go by, Mbappe will almost certainly follow in the footsteps of Henry in terms of success as well.

Mbappe’s winner puts PSG 16 points ahead of second-placed Marseille and in a comfortable position to win the league title.
