Is West Ham Back on Track and if Any of Its Assets are Worth Considering?

West Ham United

West Ham has just won a match in a long time. They beat Fulham 3-2 last night. As it happens, a change of guard in the dugout usually triggers an inspired performance. And it was no exception that Graham Potter’s arrival catapulted a punch good enough to get the better of Fulham.

This season, West Ham United has largely looked as a pale shadow of its earlier self with Julen Lopetegui shown the door after just twenty games in charge. It was less than two years ago, when now Everton manager, David Moyes directed them to the path of European glory as the Hammers emerged victorious in the UEFA Conference League.

However, we need to keep a close tab on Potter’s West Ham for at least the next few gameweeks to understand if the Englishman can really turn things around in the long run.

Now, the big question coming up from an FPL perspective — if any of their assets deserve consideration. Let’s have a look at their top performers. Even in a dismal season, Jarrod Bowen(£7.5m), who has remained a popular FPL pick over the years, showed his class, bagged home 90pts, before going out injured. He is currently on the sidelines and may return in early February.

Aaron Wan Bissaka(£4.6m)

Often dubbed as a spider by the Manchester United loyalists, AWB switched sides last summer. Old Trafford saw the arrival of Mazraoui from Bayern Munich with Bissaka joining the Hammers.

When West Ham United continued to hit new lows every week, AWB still caught our eyes with occasional brilliance and constant hard work.

Bissaka has two goals and two assists in the ongoing campaign. However, his two strikes have come against Arsenal and Newcastle United, in two consecutive matches.

His best performance in the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25, was in the Newcastle match where he smashed a 15pts haul.

Tomas Soucek(£4.9m)

Soucek has performed well in the PL in the last couple of years. The Czech Republic international found his name in the scoresheet against Fulham.

He happens to be a cool budget option in the middle of the park and a great differential pick with only 1.6% of the managers having his name on their team list.

Soucek has five goals and two assists under his name with Palace, Brentford, and Leicester in the next six.

Lucas Paqueta(£5.7m)

Lucas Paqueta made the most of a Leno blunder to find his goal-scoring boots back. He has had a moderate season so far, with 60pts in his kitty.

It seemed from the Fulham game that the Brazilian midfielder might have a more significant role to play in Potter’s regime.

But with so many great midfield options around his price range, it won’t be too wise to bring him in now. However, you can also take your chance with differentials, as Paqueta has an ownership of little over 1%.
