Serge Aurier, born on December 24, 1992, in Ouragahio, Ivory Coast, was considered one of the best right-backs in the world during his time with Paris Saint-Germain. He was a fast, strong, and unbalanced defender with a good aerial ability, which made him dangerous from corners and free kicks. He was one of the most important members of the team and an undisputed starter, but after a lot of controversies in which he called Angel Di Maria a “clown” and the team’s then coach, Laurent Blanc, a “fiotte”, which is a homophobic slur, he was suspended for a long time until he was sold to Tottenham Hotspur for 23 million pounds.
He did well at Tottenham Hotspur, but didn’t enjoy the same success he had at PSG. At the English club, he competed with Kieran Trippier and later Kyle Walker-Peters for the right-back spot. It wasn’t until the arrival of Emerson Royal that he and the club decided to terminate his contract. He then had brief spells with Villarreal CF, Nottingham Forest, and Galatasaray SK from 2021 to 2024. He currently plays for Persepolis in Iran but up until now he has not been able to play due to a disease he is suffering from.
It has been announced that Serge Aurier will be away from football for at least the next six months due to his battle with Hepatitis B. This has been posted across social media, with a wide variety of people commenting on the matter.

As we know, hepatitis B is an infectious disease of the liver that causes an acute or chronic process that can lead to cirrhosis. This disease is spread through contact with saliva, blood, semen, or other fluids from an infected person. Acute hepatitis B usually doesn’t require treatment, as many adults recover spontaneously.
When considering that the disease could be caused because of sexual activities, there has been a discussion online regarding whether Aurier got it through that. While there is a possibility that could have been the case, hence why some people claim that he got an STD, the truth of the matter is that it hasn’t been confirmed.
However, there is a vaccine for this disease, which is quite effective. This vaccine contains HBsAg, which causes the immune system to create antibodies against it and creates immunity to the disease, as per the research made.
The good news is that the Ivorian is now free of the disease thanks to medical treatment, but, as we mentioned before, it will take him six months or more for his body to fully recover.

This process will take around 6 months and he’ll be unable to play until then.

Having said all that, all of these reports seem to have been dismissed by the player himself, who recently when on Snapchat and release a short statement that says “Don’t listen to what people say on the internet”, as per translations.
It’s sad that, having just arrived at his new club and looking for a new adventure, Serge Aurier has been dealing with all of these bizarre situations. Recent years have seen the Ivorian constantly changing teams without finding any degree of balance, so this doesn’t help in any meaningful manner.
Here is hoping that, whatever he is going through, he can overcome it and come back better than ever.
