Kyle Walker’s FC 26 Downgrade Is Worse Than You Think

If there was a meta full back in the game you would think of Ferland Mendy and Kyle Walker. For years, the Manchester City RB has been a staple in the starting lineups of millions of players in EA’s past titles, consistently lauded for his high pace stat on his gold cards. Just last year on his base 84 rated card he had 89 pace. He also had 77 passing, 78 dribbling , 79 defending and 81 physicality. Just an overall all rounded beast. What made him even better was his alternative position as a CB, a CB with 89 pace and those stats was unstoppable.

However, the latest iteration of his card in FC 26 has shattered this long held status. A cursory glance at his new stats reveals a shocking downgrade, most notably to his once elite pace. Gone are the days of his 90+ pace rating. In FC 26, Kyle Walker is now a 79 rated RB with a meager 80 pace. He also cannot play at CB, his alternative position is RM.

You can look at starter defenders such as Aina, Malo Gusto and Wesley from Roma as Walker is now not a useable starter RB.

As i had also mentioned before, somehow EA have decided to put Walker’s alternative position as RM. Based on his positioning this seems like a grave mistake, a wingback position may have been justified but RM does not make any sense.

This final comment sums it all. Players have used countless versions of Kyle Walker over the years, from his early days as a budget friendly powerhouse to his special edition cards with even more absurd stats. For many, he was one of the first meta players they ever acquired.

Now, with the FC 26 downgrade, that history has been made obsolete. The card has been stripped of the very attribute that made it special. It’s a harsh reminder that in the world of these yearly installment games, nothing is permanent. Maybe in a few years we will get to experience that again with his ICON card.
