EA Fixes FC 26 Rage Quit Problem with Major Draw-Quit Update

FC 26

The community driven effort to combat draw quitting has seen a change in FC 26’s match outcome rules. Based on a tweet put out by EA, the conditions under which a player is awarded a win when their opponent quits a drawn match have been updated, demonstrating a continued commitment to improving online fairness.

The debut of FC 26 introduced significant changes to the age old problem of opponents quitting a tied game to deny a victory. Initially, the primary time based condition was reaching the 45 minute mark or half time. However, following player feedback and possibly to better align the experience across various game modes, a key threshold has been adjusted, making it easier for players to secure a deserved win early in a match.

The latest update confirms the following revised and expanded criteria for automatically awarding a win to the non quitting player in a drawn match.

ConditionLatest FC 26 UpdateImpact
Time Passed20 Minutes PassedSignificantly lowers the time investment required to secure a win against a rage quitter.
Penalty ConcededWin GivenIf a penalty is awarded (even if not yet taken), the quitting player takes the loss.
Red Card ReceivedWin GivenIf a red card is given, the quitting player takes the loss.

The most notable change is the reduction of the match time requirement from 45 minutes to just 20 minutes. This is a critical adjustment, especially for Live FUT Friendlies or Objectives where quick results are sought, and frustration levels are often high.

The shift from 45 minutes to 20 minutes is a major victory for the player base. No longer must players grind through the entire first half only to have their opponent quit and void the progress. Players can now be confident that just one-third of the match played will secure a result.

By making the punitive measure kick in sooner, the update acts as a stronger deterrent against players who might have previously waited until the 40th minute to quit if they felt a goal was imminent. For objectives that require a win or a completed match, this streamlines the process, ensuring less time is wasted against unsporting opponents.

The immediate awarding of a win upon the opposing player conceding a penalty kick or receiving a red card remains a cornerstone of the new system. These in game events represent a clear, match altering advantage, and the update correctly ensures that advantage is not erased by a rage quit. However this method only works 5 times a day with the reset occurring at 12AM UTC. This should be sufficient for most players as draw rage quitting is not something that happens very often.

It is crucial for players to remember that the new Win Given logic primarily applies when the opponent uses the in game ‘Quit Match’ option from the pause menu. While EA continues to refine its detection algorithms, players who force close the game via their console/PC dashboard or who experience a genuine connection issue may still result in a neutral disconnection or a loss without the corresponding win being awarded to the opponent.

Despite these minor caveats, the latest revision to the Draw Quit mechanism in FC 26 signifies a responsive development approach, providing a much needed layer of protection and fairness for the competitive online community.
