Football clubs Americanizing the matchday experience by playing songs to create an atmosphere has been a controversial topic. While some fans want to stick to tradition and let the crowd create the atmosphere, clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and more are moving forward with the times and trying to embrace the American way and play music to add fun and create a party atmosphere for matchdays.
Premier League club Crystal Palace is among those clubs, as they’ve been playing songs at Selhurst Park before the match and during the match when the home team scores. Interestingly, they also play music after the match, the choice of which has surprised fans after what transpired against Manchester United.
Palace took the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who slotted home a penalty, which he had won after Leny Yoro brought him down in the box.
United then equalized through Joshua Zirkzee, who slotted home a sublime goal from a tight angle. He broke the offside trap and received the ball inside the box from Bruno’s free kick. Then, from an acute angle hammered home a rocket low and hard, as the ball flew past former United keeper Dean Henderson and into the far corner.
Mason Mount then sneaked in a quickly taken free kick, giving Manchester United the lead as the Reds held on for the win.
Once the match concluded, the DJ played the tunes on Selhurst Park’s sound system, as is the routine. However, both sets of fans, especially the away fans, were surprised by the choice of music, and they certainly made the most of it.
After the match, Crystal Palace bizarrely decided to play Daft Punk’s “One More Time” as fans were leaving the stadium.
The lyrics of the popular track go: “One more time, we’re gonna celebrate. Oh yeah, all right, don’t stop the dancing.”
With only the United fans in the away section left in the stadium, they partied to the classic dance tune, turning it into a chant for Joshua Zirkzee, who has had a rough 2025-26 so far but was United’s hero against Palace.
The fans turned the song lyrics into:
“One more time, we’re gonna celebrate. Oh yeah, all right, Joshua Zirkzee.”

Manchester United’s away fans, widely considered to be the best away fans in the Premier League, continued singing and dancing to the song even after it was turned off by the DJ.
After the win, Manchester United climbs to 7th in the table with 21 points, just 3 points behind Chelsea (3rd) and Aston Villa (4th), who occupy the Champions League qualification spots.
