Jadon Sancho Visibly Upset After Another Early Aston Villa Sub

Aston Villa, Europa League, Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho makes the headlines once again following Aston Villa’s Europa League visit to FC Basel. The Manchester United loanee has only managed a measly 127 minutes across 7 appearances in the Premier League this season.

The most playing time the Englishman has seen this season has come in the Europa League, where manager Unai Emery has primarily preferred to rest his first choice players.

In their latest outing in the competition, the Villains travelled to Switzerland to face FC Basel where the former Borussia Dortmund winger played the first 64 minutes of the match. After being replaced by his fellow countryman and Villa’s talismanic midfielder, Morgan Rogers, the 25 year-old was visibly seen upset after being taken off the pitch.

Despite getting a pat of appreciation from the Spanish head coach, the winger stormed off towards the bench where he appeared to have taken his frustration out on one of the vacant seats in the dugout.

Fans took quick notice of this and slammed the player for his repeated temperament problems.

@JamesHa11783 Showing that fake anger

@MartienBall· What’s disappointing about Sancho is that he simply gave up on football. At his age, most players are chasing dreams, fighting to play in World Cups or Euros and doing whatever it takes to earn a spot and represent their country. He doesn’t seem to care about any of that. He looks more focused on bagging that money, playing video games and chilling. Ironically, we somehow always end up signing players with weak mentality like this.

@FCBmodern1 Hate this type of attitude

@RobSharpey Worst example of a modern day average footballer

@queenfan1984 Wasn’t it a hat-trick of potentially dangerous errors – and then the rest?

@theredarmy2436 I am glad he is clubless at the end of the season. I hope no clubs move to sign him. He might end up opposite Carragher on Sky.

@macdot__paul Has no one to blame but himself. Had opportunities to sign for Chelsea but wanted more money.

@madawi71 I’m not sure he is good enough for us He gives the ball away too often

@RedDevil766364 An absolute pathetic, man child, excuse for a professional footballer. Always has been. Always will be.

@MalteserMatt Here as an example of the “bad attitude” that many claim Bellingham has. Difference is Sancho actually does behave like a child.

@OluwabukunmiJul Sancho is one of the most irritating player I’ve ever seen This guy will literally do nothing while giving his chance on the pitch and hence the manager subs him off he’ll start giving childish attitude and slamming his fist against an harmless seats

@FFlintston14902 Can’t wait to see the back of this lazy obnoxious c**t. Anyone that takes this moron on, good luck to you. All he’s interested in how much money he can fleece out of you.

@MarkWil16159429 Sancho doesn’t give a s*it about the club, the team or the fans. He is one of the new breed of footballer who thinks the world revolves around him, has no loyalty or respect. His team is struggling but quite happy to take his money and do nothing. Should never play again for Utd.

Despite receiving a lot of negative and hate comments upon his reaction of being substituted, many people defended his frustrating gesture, especially Villa supporters.

@FOsanyintile If you watch the match you will know he’s just angry with his performance not even with the sub

@ShemGich so many players do this.. its normal.. nothing wrong with it.. lol….

@TheHolteHub You know nothing. Fella is frustrated with his performances, he obviously holds himself to a certain standard and he isn’t happy he couldn’t get to it. He gave it all he could on the pitch and that what matters to us, it’s the same story as Rashford.

@chloe13579246 It’s actually a good attitude. He’s annoyed with his performance since it wasn’t that good and the last thing he did before getting subbed off was give the ball away in a dangerous position

@JamieGr57137056 Nothing wrong there. He’s allowed to feel annoyed and frustrated. Shows he’s hungry to prove something and not just there for the pay check. As long as he doesn’t take it to after the game, all good from my perspective.

@AriseAston I’d like to give him the benefit of doubt, but his track record stinks the place out. Possibly a good thing he is a loan and not a purchase. Villa and Emery don’t need egos like that. They need to all pull in the same direction. UTV

@kstkssjms I think he’s annoyed as he knows he’s not doing as well as he wants to. I would take it as a good sign. No-one with a competitive spirit would ever be happy to be subbed off. Don’t be a hating spectator…..

@ca78087749 Must drop the agenda with him for christ sake, he’s jut been taken off with 15 minutes left what’s he supposed to do be happy, we’re glad he’s not happy about coming off it shows he’s desire. No issue from our side.

@1966wall That’s disappointment at his own performance, he knows he wants to do better, but it’s just not happening for him right now. UTV

During the summer, after his move to Birmingham, manager Unai Emery made his feelings very clear about the former Chelsea winger by saying,

“We then had the opportunity to make a signing, and one of the players on our list was Jadon Sancho. He’s capable of playing on both the right and left wings, and he provides something different. He’s a good player and I felt he performed very well last year at Chelsea.

“Yes, he had some problems at Manchester United, but during his time at Borussia Dortmund, he performed fantastic. He’s also played 25 times for England. He’s still young, still hungry, and has the ability to show his skills and qualities.

“Hopefully, we can bring out the best in him here. In the last few years, he’s played more on the left, but at Dortmund, he was more often on the right. Here, I see him being able to play in both of those positions.”

After securing a loan move to Aston Villa, Sancho was full of praise for the club and the manager’s efforts into bringing this club amongst one of the biggest powerhouses in England.

“When I spoke to the manager he gave me belief and confidence. He showed me the plan of what they want to achieve this year and it really inspired me.

“He definitely persuaded me, and I can’t wait to work under him.”

“I’ve got individual goals, but my main goal is for the team. Achieving something as a team is much more special than individually. I feel like all players have individual goals, but the team always comes first. I’ll be looking to achieve goals with the team first.”

Whether or not a permanent move to Birmingham is written for Sancho is unclear as of now, with Villa also lining up an arrival for Gremio’s Brazilian forward Alysson, a left-footed right-winger, which could potentially lead to them ending ties with the Englishman.
