The saga surrounding Vinicius Junior has been one of the biggest stories of this summer’s transfer window. As one of the best wingers in the world, Vini Jr. is naturally an extremely important player for his club, Real Madrid.
However, his current contract is set to expire in a year’s time, and talks of an extension have reportedly hit a roadblock due to the Brazilian’s high salary demands. Real Madrid are allegedly willing to offer a deal that pays €22 million annually, while Vini Jr. wants a net salary of around €30 million per year.
This, combined with the reported signing of Yan Diomande, could mean that Real Madrid may be open to selling one of their standout players, and rumours claim Premier League champions Arsenal are best positioned to profit.
Amidst all the buzz surrounding him, Vini Jr. has been enjoying his summer break to the fullest. He posted a photo dump to his Instagram profile on Monday, offering fans a sneak peek into his vacation itinerary.
Some snaps also featured those near and dear to him, like his girlfriend, Virginia Fonseca, and legendary rapper Jay-Z, who owns Roc Nation Sports, the sports agency that represents the Brazilian winger.
When the images were first posted, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the track Vini Jr. chose to add was “Janice STFU”, part of Drake’s recently released album ICEMAN.
Though the song has been trending a lot of recent, this choice was slightly controversial because Jay-Z and Drake are not exactly on the best of terms if word within the hip-hop industry is to be believed.
While the pair do not have an active all-out rap war like Drake and Kendrick Lamar did, they share a complicated history, and there is reportedly some underlying tension between them.
As it turned out, Vinicius Junior changed the audio track of his Instagram post shortly after, and there is a good chance Jay-Z had something to do with it. Though changing the audio of posts without deleting and reposting were not possible in the past, an editing tool added to the app in an update that took place in late July now gives users the option to do so.
This was probably what Vini Jr. used in order to the change the track to Jay-Z and Linkin Park’s “Numb/Encore”.
Though this is a pretty subtle detail, which most fans would probably never have even noticed, it offers some insight into how valuable Jay-Z’s opinion and approval might be for Vini Jr.
It remains to be seen if the renowned music artist and business mogul goes on to play a significant role in deciding what could potentially be a career-defining summer for Vinicius Junior.
