Football arguably has the largest and most passionate fanbase in the entire sporting world. Fans don’t just watch the game, they live it. From lighting flares after a stunning goal to drums echoing through stadiums like a heartbeat, football culture is built on raw emotion and unwavering loyalty.
And then, certain fanbases take this loyalty to another level.
It has been questioned for years now, yet they refuse to budge.
Yes, we are talking about Tottenham Hotspur fans.

Football has long thrived on narratives that carry football, and very few ideas overtake the idea of “a big club in trouble,” and currently, Tottenham wears the mantle of that narrative.
The infamous “Trophyless” club has found itself in hot water concerning their relegation. The current poor form of Tottenham has become a global storyline and taken the football world by storm. The coverage is not because of their present situation, but because of how prestigious a club Tottenham is. With a history deep into the roots of football, worldwide support, and constant media coverage, Tottenham manages to always stay in the spotlight.
But do their fans back down because of the setbacks they face? Never.
They always show up when Tottenham needs them. At their highest of highs and lowest of lows, they constantly show up and cheer on for their most decorated club.
The fandom goes beyond any average, with the likes of Tom Holland, Adele, and even the man you can’t see, John Cena, who has been seen supporting Tottenham Hotspur
But one name stands out from the rest: Brett Goldstein.

Born and raised in Sutton, South London, Brett grew up deep into football culture thanks to his dad, whom he describes as a football “hooligan”, and the one who inscribed the team’s love deep into the trenches of his heart.
Unlike many celebrity fans, Brett does not try to disguise the fact that he is a Spurs fan; instead, he gives them an ode in the smallest and most creative ways possible.
Being both writer and producer of the famous football show “Ted Lasso”, He has repeatedly slipped in cheeky references to Spurs themselves. While some were direct for regular people watching the show to interpret, others were not so subtle nods to the team, which we are sure Spurs fans recognised and smiled at.

His inner Spurs-boy writes references which kept the Tottenham spirit alive, maybe not in a direct way, but surely alive in the show.
Goldstein is starring in and producing the romantic comedy “Office Romance,” releasing on June 5 on Netflix alongside the evergreen actress Jennifer Lopez.
Within the show, he has made a tribute to a Tottenham legend by naming his character after him, the legendary Danny Blanchflower.

Robert Dennis “Danny” Blanchflower played for Tottenham for 10 years, making a solid 382 appearances for the club, while also winning them the ever-legendary first league and FA cup double in the 20th century during the 1960-61 season. He embodied both excellence and identity, values that still define how the Spurs view themselves.
He was named the footballer of the year twice in 58’ and 61’. A feat not many could achieve at the time. This goes on to show the tribute was overdue in the eyes of Goldstein, and Office Drama gave him the perfect opportunity to do so.
It goes on to show how curious a student is Goldstein of the club’s history and its legends, who built the foundation upon which the club’s values are constructed.
This is what makes Tottenham’s cultural presence so powerful. Even when results fluctuate and narratives turn negative, the club’s identity continues to live through its supporters. From stadium chants to television scripts to film characters, the connection persists.
As Office Romance approaches its release, attention will naturally fall on its broader appeal. The film pairs Goldstein with Jennifer Lopez in a workplace romance setting, blending comedy with character-driven storytelling. Early details suggest a modern rom-com centered around professional dynamics and personal chemistry, backed by a strong supporting cast and a major streaming rollout.

But for the fans of Tottenham, there will be an extra layer to keep them engaged throughout the entirety of the show.
Because while relegation narratives may dominate headlines, Tottenham’s true scale is measured elsewhere, in culture, in history, and in the people who carry it forward.
