Arsenal have been on a rampage ever since the season’s tip-off. The defending champions have already racked up 5 wins in 6 games in the Premier League while they sit undefeated in the Premier League so far. With new additions like Bruno Guimaraes, the Gunners look like a threatening side for the rest of Europe.
However, the north London club still has some minute gaps in the squad which they are looking to fill desperately. Structurally, Arsenal has multiple players in the same positions. However, the left wing remains thin in that regard. Although the club does have players like Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, the essence of consistency is still missing.
Players like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s departure in the summer transfer window added more fuel to this situation. To tackle this, the Gunners are looking towards St. James Park as they monitor Newcastle United left winger Bazoumana Toure, as per sources from Caught Offside.
Toure, currently valued at £35M, is an exciting young prospect who joined the Magpies in the summer from TSG Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of £42M. In his limited time in the league, Toure has impressed the English media immensely. In his 5 appearances for the club, Toure has logged just 126 minutes but has already racked up 2 goals.
The 20-year-old had an impressive stint last season as well, where he scored 5 goals and recorded 12 assists across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt. These persistent performances have sparked major interest from Arsenal, who are looking to add more depth on the left wing. A dynamic and fast winger, Toure doesn’t hesitate to cut inwards and take on defenders in 1v1 situations.
These skill sets of Toure make him a perfect fit in Arteta’s 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system. Meanwhile, Toure’s explosive pace can also help the Gunners in creating more chances in the offensive transition. He can pair perfectly with other forwards like Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino to set up a dynamic front three for the North London club.
Under a veteran and skilled coach like Arteta, Toure can also develop with ease from a long-term perspective. Furthermore, with Arsenal, Bazoumana Toure can also get the opportunity to compete in the biggest European club competition, the UEFA Champions League.
However, this move is far from how it looks on paper, and it won’t be easy for Arteta and co to pull off this deal. Manchester United has also kept a close eye on Toure and is equally interested in the Newcastle winger. Furthermore, Toure has signed a deal until 2031 with Newcastle, and his contract, as per sources from TeamTalk, doesn’t have a release clause.
This means that Newcastle holds the greater say in this Toure move. While a move in the winter transfer window looks quite impossible, Arsenal will have to spend some big bucks even if they want to sign him in the summer.
For now, there haven’t been any talks between the clubs. However, with the winter transfer window a few months away, it remains to be seen what Arsenal’s approach will be, especially with forwards like Toure and Julian Alvarez, whom the Premier League club is still monitoring.
