Bruno Fernandes Latest: Galatasaray Ready to Pay £300K Wages While Amorim Wants His Man Back

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes’ future at Manchester United has suddenly become one of the major talking points ahead of the January transfer window. The player has found himself in the centre of controversy over the club’s on-field struggles. Fernandes, a club captain and a crucial figure in Michael Carrick’s setup, is now facing uncertainty after being left out of the starting lineup for the team’s last Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.

The controversy surfaced in the aftermath of Manchester United’s shock defeat to Como in the Champions League last week. Speaking to reporters after the match, the Portuguese midfielder raised questions over the team’s tactical approach, which did not go down well with Carrick and the coaching staff. In a statement, Carrick took a decision to drop his captain before the Bournemouth clash at Old Trafford, alerting several European clubs to the player’s future at the club.

Galatasaray and AC Milan are among the top clubs monitoring the player’s situation and could offer a player an early way out. According to Calciomercato.com, AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim is looking for a reunion with Fernandes as early as January. Fernandes has previously enjoyed spells in Italian football with Udinese and Sampdoria, and could find it easy to adapt under his former coach.

The player has a £54.4 million foreign club release clause in his contract, which expires at the end of this season. However, the Italian giants are reportedly reluctant to match the player’s base high wages of £300,000 per week. As a result, the Serie A side is expected to assess the situation further before deciding whether to make a formal move in January.

Meanwhile, as per fotoMac, Galatasaray have revived their interest in the 32-year-old playmaker. Unlike Milan, the Turkish champions are believed to be prepared to meet Fernandes’ wage demands in an effort to bring him to Istanbul midway through the campaign.

The report adds that Galatasaray’s push is being strongly backed by Rafael Leao, Fernandes’ Portugal teammate, who is keen to convince the Manchester United star to join Okan Buruk’s side. Galatasaray are also considering a pre-contract agreement over a summer move if they fail to negotiate a deal with Manchester United in January.

However, Bruno Fernandes finished last season with a record-breaking assist tally in the league, and losing a player of his creativity and leadership in the middle of a challenging campaign would be viewed as a major setback at Old Trafford.

If the player’s relationship with Carrick fails to improve, the January transfer window could provide Fernandes with an opportunity to begin a new chapter away from Manchester after carrying the club through difficult periods.
