English giant Liverpool FC is one of the best clubs in the world and perhaps the best in England, so there are plenty of players around the world who would die to play there. Currently the best club in England, the team boasts many players who are among the most outstanding in their respective positions. We can count on Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson, and Mohammed Salah, who are consistently ranked as the best exponents in their positions, but they are also signing young players who promise to be among the best footballers in the world in the near future.
Liverpool FC’s newest signing is Italian defender Giovanni Leoni. Born on December 21, 2006 in Rome, Leoni currently plays for Parma in Serie A, but it’s only a matter of time before he joins the English side. The 18-year-old defender was a fixture at the Italian club last season, where, despite not playing every game, he was one of the squad’s standout performers. Many believed he was headed to a bigger Italian club—in short, that he wasn’t going to leave Italy—but it seems he’ll end up going to England.
Leoni is an agile, modern, tall, and strong defender. In fact, he’s much stronger than many of us thought he was, as a photo from the previous season of him alongside one of the world’s strongest players recently went viral. It looked like Leoni had knocked him down. We’re talking about Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, famous for his physical strength and colossal figure.
In this photo, Lukaku can be seen lying on the ground while Leoni holds him by the shirt collar. At first glance it seems that the forward tried to dribble past him and Leoni only needed to grab his shirt to stop him.

Obviously, that wasn’t the case. What happened was that Lukaku received a pass and had Leoni behind him. While Lukaku was trying to push him, Leoni decided to grab him by the shirt and take him to the ground.

Even so, it takes a lot of physical strength to bring down someone like Lukaku, who is 1.91 meters tall and weighs around 93 kgs. But on the other hand, Leoni is 1.95m tall, which means it’s very possible he could do it. And well, he already did it.
The photo has really been very well received on Twitter (now X) by Liverpool FC and Parma supporters. Also, the transfer fee for the Italian defender is said to be between €35 million and €41 million.

No loan, never discussed… Leoni joins #LFC now as part of Arne Slot plans.
Fee around €35m with sell-on clause.

Let’s not forget that Leoni was also able to easily push aside Dusan Vlahovic, a 1.91m, 85kg forward. Leoni is undoubtedly very strong.

It is important to point out that Vlahovic is a 6’3”, 85kg monster.

It’s only a matter of time before we see him do the same with Premier League strikers. Given what we’ve seen him do in Serie A, he may be able to do the same against strikers like Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, and Viktor Gyokeres, who are also physically imposing and tall forwards.
