Hugo Ekitike, born on June 20, 2002 in Reims, France, is a tall forward, 1.90m tall, fast, skillful, with good aerial ability, good finishing, and good footwork technique. He began his career at Cormontreuil FC in 2008, and it wasn’t until 2013 that his hometown club, Stade de Reims, signed him to their academy. He remained there until 2019, when he began to be called up to Reims B, and a year later, he made his debut against Lorient on October 17, 2020.
He would go on loan a couple of times, the last being to PSG, where he would end up being signed in 2023 but would quickly be sent to the Bundesliga as a session player to Eintracht Frankfurt. He would do so well there that the team would buy him, and in the 2024-2025 season, Ekitike would become the team’s top scorer with 22 goals in all competitions. It was his performances throughout the season that led Liverpool FC to sign him for €95 million.

As we mentioned before, Ekitike has made a significant impact on Liverpool FC since his arrival, but a very positive one. In the FA Community Shield match, Ekitike scored his team’s first goal, but unfortunately couldn’t participate in the penalty shootout as he was substituted in the 71st minute.
In his English Premier League debut, Ekitike scored a goal and also assisted another, becoming the first French player in league history to score and assist in his debut match against AFC Bournemouth. Obviously, he also took home the Man of the Match award. He deserved it.
Currently, Liverpool FC has several players who are Muslim, with the most prominent being Mohamed Salah. And many Liverpool FC fans were surprised to learn that Frenchman Ekitike is also Muslim. Since then, Liverpool FC’s Muslim supporters have been overjoyed by this revelation and have grown even closer to the club.

Many were even able to see Ekitike praying and doing dua before the match against Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield final. In the Muslim religion, Dua is a prayer of supplication and invocation. It is a form of worship for Muslims to ask for help, blessings, and anything they need.
It’s always nice to see football players so attached to their religion. Faith is something that can definitely move mountains, and praying is always a good thing.
