Internet Turns On Michael Olise For Scrolling His Phone During Jules Kounde’s Birthday Bash

Bayern Munich, Jules Kounde, Michael Olise

Michael Olise has been a tremendous player for the past few seasons. During his time with Crystal Palace, he and Eze were carrying Palace to new heights, even getting talked about as the best wingers in not just the league, but the world.

Aside from his sumptuous goals, trickery, and skillful playmaking, another thing that most fans loved about Olise was his nonchalance and aloof nature.

At one point, he scored an outrageous 95th-minute free kick against Manchester United and didn’t celebrate to the amusement of fans who showered him with “cold” and “aura” comments.

His performances helped him get a transfer to Bayern Munich, where he has taken his game to a whole new level while still retaining his nonchalant nature.

Olise is a man of very few words and emotions

However, over the last couple of years, fans, especially on social media, have grown tired of his nonchalant nature and his inability to read the room.

Anytime a dressing room clip or a funny TikTok with other players pops up and it involves Olise being nonchalant, the comments are filled with fans calling him out on it.

It was the same case during the international break. Kounde, who was selected for French duty, was celebrating his 27th birthday with all his teammates, including Olise, sitting at the table.

While everyone was smiling, celebrating, clapping, and singing Happy Birthday to Kounde, Olise was busy scrolling on his phone.

Even when Kounde was giving his speech, thanking everyone for the gesture, Olise still had his head down and scrolling away.

And as you would expect, a lot of fans on Football Twitter, especially Barcelona fans, totally lost it. The comments saw fans fuming with Olise’s forced nonchalant gimmick.

This whole nonchalant gimmick about him is so forced he’s such a try hard

This isn’t funny, just straight up disrespectful

Olise is getting rinsed to oblivion & tbf rightly so, don’t really think he’s trying to be ‘nonchalant’ but sometimes you gotta be aware of the room you’re in

Olise is deadass corny man drop the gimmick you’re not a vibe.

Naah France NT vibes are so meh. Look at olise using his phone .No respect and manners at all . But its cool cus he’s MR. nonchalant. #loserbehaviour

We need to stop calling Olise nonchalant and start calling him a prick

Olise has been in hot water numerous times over his “nonchalance” since his move to Bayern Munich. Last season, he was in the news for making life difficult for stadium volunteers in a clash against Borussia Dortmund.

He kept removing the sponsor banners as they were “in his way during warm-ups” despite the volunteers repositioning them and arranging them back several times.

Then, a few weeks later, Bayern hosted a festive club event to celebrate Christmas as the players were singing Christmas carols, but as you’d have guessed, Mr. Nonchalant was standing silently with no emotions and no engagement.

The footage was shared everywhere. All the players looked enthusiastic and sang with festive cheer, while Olise appeared disconnected, which prompted mixed reactions online.

Olise faced the ire of fans when his “nonchalance” during a Christmas photoshoot went viral

Olise claims that the reason behind his lack of expression and timid nature is that he’s a shy, introverted guy. However, fans find it hard to believe that even a shy guy will go to such extreme lengths to not smile or portray this aloof, nonchalant character even in the most inopportune circumstances.

While fans may deny the authenticity of his nonchalance, they cannot deny his performances on the pitch.

Despite not participating in Kounde’s celebration, he was an active participant when France took on Ukraine. The match saw Olise scoring, assisting, creating, winning penalties, and even achieving a perfect 10/10 rating on Sofascore.

The win against Ukraine helped France cement their place in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they lead their table with 13 points from 5 games.

So what do you make of Olise’s “nonchalant” nature? Is it genuine or is it a gimmick? Let us know in the comments section.
