The chaos and turmoil at Manchester United continues for another season as the Red Devils maintain a staggering 38% win rate under head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese manager, during his one year running tenure, has lost almost the same number of games as they’ve won (W22, D11, L21).
Ahead of the visit to London to face the reigning FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, Amorim slightly hinted that fullback Patrick Dorgu might start the match from the bench.
“He needs to be calmer playing the game. Every time Patrick touches the ball, I can feel the anxiety.”
The head coach questioned Dorgu’s decision making and compared it to his mindset during his international duties while playing for Denmark. Fans found it unusual that Dorgu was singled out in a press conference ahead of a much needed win at a tricky stadium to play in.
The former Lecce defender had started the season strong by featuring five times in Man United’s first six matches.
But his minutes on the pitch started to decrease ever since Sunderland’s visit to Old Trafford in early October, having not played a full length of a match ever since and being replaced by Diogo Dalot in the lineup.
Soon after Amorim’s presser singling out Dorgu dropped, fans developed a conspiracy theory behind the Portuguese manager’s remarks on the defender.
A few days ago, Patrick Dorgu had appeared to have liked an instagram post by ‘MUFCUNION’ (@mufcunion), which stated that “Any coach that sees Casemiro and Bruno as a viable pivot is one that isn’t serious.”
The reports of Amorim losing the trust of the dressing room were revolving heavily around the internet, and this news ignited them even further.

Many are now linking the two incidents, forming a conspiracy theory that suggests the Amorim called Dorgu because of his social media stunt.
Amorim crashing it on Dorgu on his latest press conference isn’t a coincidence, remember this week Dorgu liked a Instagram post insinuating Amorim is clueless for pairing Bruno & Casemiro together.

Manchester United has always been a club that puts huge pressure on anyone that chooses to be at the helm as head coach. Although fans have seen some silver linings like reaching the Europa League final earlier this year, under the Portuguese manager who very recently completed a year in his position on the day his team lost 1-0 to former manager David Moyes’ 10-men Everton at Old Trafford.
After the pre-match press conference, the then 10th placed Red Devils headed to Selhurst Park in Croydon where Oliver Glasner saw his team open the scoring in the first-half through a re-taken spot kick by Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Things took a turn for the better for the travelling supporters in the second-half as an equaliser by Joshua Zirkzee and a cleverly taken free-kick by former Chelsea academy player Mason Mount guaranteed all three points for Ruben Amorim and his team, putting them in 7th position ahead of Liverpool.
