Venezia Brings In 90s Kit Design Legend For Their Latest Masterpiece

Football Kits, Venezia

Venezia, a club in the second tier of Italian football, has quickly become one of the favorites for neutrals, not just in Italy but all across the world. A big reason for that is their world-class kits that look straight out of a haute couture lineup.

Italy is a country synonymous with high-end clothing. For a country that has given the world brands like Gucci, Prada, Armani, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, and more, you’d think that should translate to their top-tier football clubs as well.

However, Italian clubs often stick to their tried-and-true club colors and designs and rarely experiment. This is where a club like Venezia comes in.

Over the past few years, the Venice-based club has gained popularity with its incredible lineup of jerseys. Despite being a club that has spent most of its time in the second or third tier of Italian football, Venezia is a name that many fans have gotten familiar with over the years thanks to their jersey designs.

Since Venezia switched from Nike to Kappa in 2021, each year the Venice-based club would go viral on Football Twitter for its fashionable jerseys despite being in Serie B.

Things went up another level in 2024 when they switched to NOCTA, and fans were treated to some of the most elite jerseys in the game. NOCTA is a sub-label of Nike created in partnership with Drake.

The 2025-26 jerseys have seen the same level of excellence that fans have come to expect. Venezia released their fourth jersey earlier this week, and it was designed by Drake Ramberg, one of the most high-profile and influential designers in modern football culture.

Drake Ramberg is known for designing some of the most recognizable football jerseys in the 90s – from the iconic JVC kits at Arsenal to Dortmund’s neon jersey in 1994/95.

This kit takes inspiration from Venice’s historic banner and features a deep red and gold colorway, integrating Venetian architecture alongside a reworked Winged Lion of Saint Mark on the shoulders.

The Winged Lion is the traditional symbol of Venice, while this kit has reimagined it through a modern lens to symbolize both pride in heritage and the contemporary identity of the club.

It also incorporates subtle motifs referencing the geometric rhythm of Venetian brickwork, drawing on the city’s historic built heritage and architecture.

Drake Ramberg talked about what drew him to this project, stating:

“What drew me to this project is the unique cultural relevance Venezia FC carries: a heritage that extends far beyond the pitch. The club has captured global attention through its identity, its imagery, and its unmistakable sense of place, often outshining its sporting results. That combination of history, symbolism, and contemporary design energy offered a rare creative opportunity. My goal was to honor that legacy while translating it into a jersey that feels timeless, expressive, and instinctively connected to Venice.”

The gorgeous kit continues Venezia FC’s recent approach of merging football aesthetics with cultural elements.

Venezia debuted the jersey in their Coppa Italia match against Inter. Although they lost the match 5-1, the fans haven’t stopped talking about the beautiful Venezia jersey.

This gorgeous fourth kit is a limited-edition piece, and it has already become available for purchase on December 2nd for just €119.
