Diogo Jota was having the time of his life in 2025, winning the Premier League with Liverpool, winning the UEFA Nations League with Portugal, and getting married to the love of his life in June.
Unfortunately, 11 days later, he passed away at the age of 28 in a tragic car accident. Jota and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a collision on the A-52 motorway near Palacios de Sanabria after their vehicle caught fire.
His untimely passing was mourned around the world. Liverpool fans continue to honor Jota’s legacy at the 20-minute mark in their matches, while players often pay tribute to their fallen comrade when visiting Anfield.
Now, EA is paying tribute to Jota by gifting EA FC 26 players an opportunity to remember the talented forward.
Jota was a huge fan of gaming, often playing FIFA/EA FC in his downtime and promoting eSports. He was ranked as the world’s No. 1 player in FIFA 21’s Champions Leaderboard in February 2021.
The Portuguese gamer also had an eSports team named Luna Galaxy and streamed on Twitch regularly. In fact, during the 2020 COVID Lockdown, Jota not only participated in the tournament he also won the whole thing, defeating his future Liverpool teammate Trent 2-1 in the final.
His eSports team, Luna, has collaborated with EA developers to release the incredible Diogo Jota playable tribute kit on the occasion of what would have been his 29th birthday on December 4th.

Fans on Football Twitter are loving the Jota-inspired kit and cannot take their eyes off of it. Some are even claiming that they’ll be playing in that kit for the rest of the game.
The jersey is black in color and features a neat badge of Luna Esports on the left with two stars below it and the Adidas badge on the right. Additionally, it also features the chant Liverpool fans bestowed upon Jota –
Oh, he wears the number 20,
He will take us to victory,
And when he’s running down the left wing,
He’ll cut inside and score for LFC.
He’s a lad from Portugal,
Better than Figo don’t you know,
Oh, his name is Diogo!
If you wish to unlock the kit, here are the steps to follow –
- Start by opening the Objectives Tab
- Then, scroll to “FC Pro”
- After that, head over to FC Pro Teams Objective
- Search for the “Luna Esports Challenge”
- It will state: “Win 1 match in any Ultimate Team game mode while using at least 3 players from Portugal in your starting 11.”
Once you successfully complete the challenge, you’ll be rewarded with a Luna Esports badge and the Diogo Jota-inspired football kit.
You can then apply the Jota kit to your Ultimate Team squads and wear the Number 20 jersey to remember Diogo Jota.
