Son Heung-min is easily the most important player for Tottenham Hotspur in the modern era.
The South Korean superstar spent 10 years at the club, playing 454 games for the Lilywhites, scoring 173 goals and bagging 101 assists.
During his time, the legendary forward also won the EPL Golden Boot in 2021-22 and captained them to a UEFA Europa League victory in 2025, their first trophy since 2008.
Upon his exit in the summer of 2025, Son stated that his only regret was that he wouldn’t be able to say his goodbyes in front of the fans.
However, that may have changed as Spurs announced on their official website on December 3rd that Son is returning to the club. The official statement read:
Son Heung-min is coming back. On Dec. 9th, Son Heung-min will visit the stadium for the UEFA Champions League match against SK Slavia Prague. Son Heung-min will officially say farewell to the fans.
Moreover, the north London club also wants to give Son a special gift for his visit, as they have planned a special mural depicting their former captain’s achievements.
Expected to be completed by December 9th, the mural will be created by Murwalls, the team behind the iconic murals of fellow Spurs Legends Ledley King and Harry Kane.
The mural’s design was chosen by Son himself and will be painted on the Tottenham High Road, just past the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. More specifically, it has been created on the walls of the 3 Points Café and across the road from The Bricklayers Arms Pub.
This has put Son directly on Tottenham High Road, and it’ll also be visible from outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Moreover, it’ll also be directly in the line of sight of anyone who is coming down White Hart Lane from the White Hart Lane Station.
Meanwhile, Harry Kane’s mural is located on the side of the Brown Eagle pub across the road from the stadium. While it isn’t visible to fans who are walking north from Seven Sisters, it is still visible from the stadium.
The mural features Kane’s face with the phrase “Harry Kane! He is part of our club” after he became the club’s all-time leading scorer.

The mural’s design was chosen by Son himself and will be painted on the Tottenham High Road, right beside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In the mural, Son chose the design of himself performing his signature chak-chak celebration. The South Korean’s signature celebration involves the forward shaping his fingers to form a photo frame and pretending to take a photo with the camera.

Son has explained the meaning behind this celebration, stating that if he scores a goal, it’s a good memory, and he’s taking a picture so that he has good memories of the moment in his mind.
The other photo in the mural involves Son lifting up the Europa League title in 2025 after Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

Son stated that this is his favorite photo.
There is an interesting story behind the photo, as he was raising the trophy, the fireworks did not explode.
Teammate Pedro Porro kept saying that it was going to happen, so Son turned around to lift the trophy once more, and that is how the now-legendary photo came about.

With just a day left to go, the mural is coming along nicely. It is on schedule and with just the final touches left to go, the mural is all set to be unveiled on December 9th.
