Post-Match Interviews have given us some of the most iconic moments in football. Be it Cristiano Ronaldo saying, “Maybe they hate me because I am too good”, or Lionel Messi losing his cool after a World Cup quarter-final and saying “Qué miras Bobo?” to Wout Weghorst.
Before we can even talk about another post-match interview, we must address the historic moment achieved by the Dutch team ADO Den Haag.
The club based in The Hague faced its biggest adversity when it got relegated from the Dutch first division. Fast forward to 2026, 5 years later, and the club currently sits on top of the Eerste Divisie with 24 wins and draws in 32 matches.
The most important of those wins, however, came against Jong FC Utrecht when a single goal from forward Evan Rottier in the 50th minute was enough to secure the win. The win saw them go 4 points clear at the top of the table and achieve promotion for the first time in 5 years.
Following this incredible moment, Finnish international Diogo Tomas decided that the finest way to deliver the post-match interview would be to sport a t-shirt with the words “Guess Who’s Back” and sunglasses.
And if that wasn’t cold enough, the player also delivered the interview while chugging a can of Heineken beer in one hand and smoking cigar with other.
An all-time interview! 😎🚬

The interview itself was incredible for the fact that Tomas referred to himself in third person, taking us back to the good old days of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He also expressed his love for the club and talked about his camraderie with the rest of the players in the team.
Interviewer: During the pitch invasion so many people wanted to take a picture with you and celebrate with you. You’re a very popular guy?
Tomas: Yeah, I am.
Interviewer: Will there be Tomas next season?
Tomas: “Yeah, Tomas will be next season. We don’t know where Tomas will be but Tomas will be somewhere next season”
Interviewer: Could it be here?
Tomas: Yeah, anything is possible. I’ve loved my time here and I love these guys and go to war with these guys.”
The Centre Back, apart from his expert aurafarming, has also been a crucial part of the team and their record of conceding the fewest goals in the league season, conceding just 31 goals. He has also pitched in with the scoring, having put the ball in the back of the net 4 times this season.
The post-match interview was received extremely well by fans, and everyone was in praise of the player’s celebrations. Many even talked about him staying true to his Finnish and Portuguese roots.
More interviews with players in shades, smoking cigars and swigging cans PLEASE https://t.co/SXLfFAfXAJ

The Portuguese-Finnish are obviously coming from the fact that Tomas was born to doctor parents. His mother is Finnish, and his father is Portuguese.
This is not the first time Tomas has gone viral for standing out. In March 2023, Tomas signed for Norwegian club Odds Ballklubb and went viral for temporarily living in a caravan in the forest. He was also known for sporting a mullet. He instantly became a cult hero amongst the fans, and at the end of the season, he even cut his mullet and donated his hair to the fans due to the cultural significance it held.
Moments like these remind us of the incredible stories and players that revolve around even in the lower-ranked leagues in football. It reminds us of why we call this the beautiful game, and we can only hope for the best for clubs and players like these.
