The Champions League quarter-final between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid was always going to be a thriller of a match, and it didn’t disappoint at all.
Michael Olise delivered man‑of‑the‑match performances in both legs, scoring one goal and providing one assist across the two games, and his efforts helped Bayern eliminate the Spanish champions with a 6‑4 aggregate victory.
Off the pitch, Olise’s social media presence has suddenly exploded after the match.
His Instagram follower count jumped from 2.8 million on 7 April to 4.1 million by 17 April, a gain of 1.3 million in just ten days.
His 2 Instagram posts celebrating the win over Real Madrid in two legs has generated 5.2 million likes, clearly signifying the kind of engagement he is getting.

That growth is not an isolated spike. Olise has been steadily building his online audience since arriving at Bayern.
A Bundesliga analysis from the influencer agency Netzschreier revealed that during the first half of the 2025/26 season, Olise gained 609,877 new Instagram followers, the highest among all Bundesliga players in that period.
At the time, his total had already surpassed two million.
The match that triggered the latest surge was the second leg in Munich.
After Eduardo Camavinga’s red card, Bayern pressed for the win. Luis Díaz equalised in the 88th minute, and then, deep into stoppage time, Olise scored and sealed the comeback, and the match ended with a scoreline of 4-3.
Bayern advanced to a semi‑final meeting with Paris Saint‑Germain, keeping their treble hopes alive.
Olise’s rise has been rapid since his £51 million move from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024.
He signed a contract with Bayern that runs until 2029 and contains no release clause.
Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, and honorary president, Uli Hoeneß, have both stated that the club would not consider selling him, even for €200 million.
