Arsenal impressed in the 2025/26 season, winning the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, while also making it to the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they dramatically lost to PSG on penalties.
Heading into the new season, they are preparing to compete on all fronts yet again. In the draw for the league phase of this year’s Champions League, they drew Napoli, LOSL Lille, Bayern Munich, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Sabah and Real Betis.
Considering what the Gunners achieved last season, none of these teams are in a position to make jokes at Arsenal’s expense at the moment.
However, Slavia Prague’s social media admin took subtle shots at the North London club on Friday, sharing a meme likening the two sides to characters from the critically acclaimed TV series “Breaking Bad”.
This meme features a poignant, emotional moment where Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (played by Aaron Paul) tearfully shake hands.
Taken from Season 4, Episode 13 (“Face Off”), this scene takes place on the roof of a parking garage right before the explosive climax of the season finale, and it is intended to be one of the most emotional moments of the show.
However, social media users have turned it into a versatile meme format used to illustrate an uneasy agreement, an unlikely alliance, or a bittersweet, dramatic goodbye.
In this case, it appears Slavia Prague’s social media admin is joking about a scenario where both teams are hypothetically bonding over their shared failures at the European level. Despite being one of the most decorated clubs in Czech football history, Slavia Prague are relatively inexperienced at the top level of European football.
In the 1995/96 season, they enjoyed a historic run to the semi finals of the UEFA Cup (now known as the Europa League), but they have never made waves in the Champions League.
While Arsenal have accomplished much more in this regard, regularly qualifying for the knockout stages and making it to the Champions League final twice in their history, they still await their first taste of European glory.
The meme is captioned “We meet again”, which references the fact that both these teams also faced off in the league phase of the 2025/26 season. Even though the Czech outfit had home advantage, the Gunners secured an extremely comfortable 3-0 win, thanks to a Bukayo Saka penalty and a brace from Mikel Merino.
At the end of last season’s league phase, Arsenal finished in first place, winning all eight of their fixtures, while Slavia Praha bowed out of the competition after finishing 34th.
The reigning Czech champions will be hoping for a better result this time around, but looking at the quality of Arsenal’s squad, the odds are once again going to be stacked firmly against them.
