Real Madrid, Como, and a €80M Wall: Arsenal Line Up Kenan Yildiz as Nico Paz Fallback

Arsenal, Como, Nico Paz

Arsenal want a solid attacking lineup by next year. The Gunners are in a comfortable position in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Even though they lost out to Fleetwood in the EFL Cup, Mikel Arteta is far from disappointed. However, he knows that he cannot afford to take anything lightly.

The Gunners are looking out for a second successive Premier League title, something no other English club has achieved since the 2023-24 season. That is why they’re looking for capable attackers to strengthen their frontline. One of them is Nico Paz, who currently plays for Italian club Como.

Ever since he renewed his contract with Como this year, Paz has attracted the attention of multiple European clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal. As per TEAMtalk, the Gunners and the Blues are monitoring his performance at Como ahead of the January transfer window. Even Manchester United have shown their interest in the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

Now, why is Nico Paz so special for Arsenal? He is a multi-talented player who can switch to the position of right midfielder, right-winger, or even the striker if needed. He scored 12 goals for Como in the 2025-26 season. This not only helped Como secure a historic 4th position in the Serie A league, but also helped them through to the UEFA Champions League for the 2026-27 season. For the first time in the history of the club, Como have qualified for this tournament. This is why almost every major club wants him by their side next year, including the Gunners.

However, the road to securing Paz’s transfer is far from a cakewalk. One reason is his former club, Real Madrid. Paz played for Real Madrid as a youth player from 2016 to 2022. He subsequently joined the B team in 2022, and within a year, he was promoted to the senior team. He was sent to Como to gain more experience, but he liked the place so much that he decided to continue his contract with Como. Despite that, Real Madrid can buy back Paz by next season, though they’ll have to spend a lot of money for the same.

The other reason is his current club, Como. Paz is playing well for the Italian club. He has scored 3 goals and 3 assists for them in the 2026-27 season. This is why the club has made it clear that Nico Paz won’t be let out this season. Even if someone attempts to make an offer for the Argentinian player, they have to pay a minimum of €80 million to complete the transfer deal. However, Arsenal are not too worried about that. They have a backup plan ready in the form of Kenan Yildiz, whose performance is also being monitored right now. Besides, the Gunners had previously shown their interest in the summer transfer window, although they didn’t submit an official bid for him. However, if Mikel Arteta makes up his mind, nothing can stop the Gunners from bringing Paz to the Emirates by January.
