Gossip: Arsenal Nearing Green Light for Championship-Tested Winger Who Can Rule Both Flanks for Arteta

One of the primary aspect that makes a team go from a contending team to champions is the team’s depth. A strategic depth at every position of the field is important for a team to not slow down in case of any injuries or caveats. This is the aspect of the field which Arsenal has absolutely mastered in the last few seasons.

While they have two standout players ready for almost every position, their depth on the right wing is immensely touted in the Premier League. They already have their academy standout Bukayo Saka in that position, who most often is not the regular starter on that wing.

Furthermore, they also have players like Noni Madueke and Max Dowman who back Saka in that position quite effectively, making their attack on the wing well-balanced. However, the North London club isn’t done yet, as the Gunners look eagerly to sign another right winger from one of their Premier League rivals.

Journalist and transfer expert Vlad Polivoda from Britball.net recently reported that Arsenal is monitoring Hull City winger Mohamed Belloumi’s position at the club. Notably, the Gunners have received the green signal from the 24-year-old right winger for a move to the Emirates in the upcoming winter transfer window in January.

Mohamed Belloumi arrived at Hull City from Liga Portugal 2 club Farense in 2024 for £4.7 million. Last season, Belloumi showed glimpses of his prowess while playing in the Championship, scoring 5 goals and dishing out 4 assists across all competitions. His performance helped Hull City achieve Premier League promotion.

This season in the top-tier league, Belloumi has continued his good performance and has already recorded 3 goals and 2 assists across 10 games. Belloumi is quite a touted star for the Algerian national team as well because of his high work rate, top-tier speed on the right wing, and tight-space agility.

These qualities put the heavy yards on the wing, and his willingness to track back to help the team on the defensive end also makes him perfect for Mikel Arteta’s compact and defense-heavy system. A move to Arsenal would also open many chances for Belloumi. Firstly, the Algerian can play in the biggest European club competitions like the Champions League.

Behind a strong team like Arsenal, Belloumi would also get ample support from his teammates to perform well in the final third of the pitch. The24-year-old’s father, Lakhdar Belloumi, who is an Algerian football legend, doesn’t rule out his son’s move to a bigger club like Arsenal as well.

Furthermore, Belloumi can also give Arteta the leverage to play on the left wing as well, where he can operate even out of his position. Notably, the Gunners are also looking to sign a left winger in the upcoming winter transfer window, where Mohamed Belloumi can be considered by the club yet again for his ability to play on either flank of the pitch.

The winter transfer window is a few months away; it will be interesting to see how the defending Premier League champs approach the signing of Belloumi under their sporting director, Andrea Berta.
