The race for the Premier League title heats up as Manchester City close down on Liverpool, reducing the gap to 4 points with their win against Wolves last night.

City scored 3 with Gabriel Jesus bagging a brace against 10 men Wolves after Willy Boly saw a red card for a heavy challenge on Bernardo Silva.

After Spurs’ loss to United at the weekend, one might concede that it may boil down to a two horse race between City and Liverpool. The Merseyside giants have shown no respite in the league, having lost only one, against the defending champions. Manchester City also look like they have overcome their December drop, having scored 19 goals in 3 games, in all competitions.

Liverpool have made their the best ever start to a season and they go up against a record breaking City side. The intense competition at the top has left football experts and former players, at a split decision.

The latest asked to give his opinion on the race for the title was Manchester City legend Yaya Toure.

A special guest on Monday Night Football, the Ivorian was at loss of words when asked about City’s chances at retaining their title.

He conceded that he has been impressed with Liverpool, who have looked scary and will be very tough to beat over the remaining set of fixtures.

Liverpool enjoy an easier set of fixtures as they face Palace and Leicester at Anfield up next, while City face a few trips away from home with their Cup fixtures crammed in between.

As the season inches towards the showdown period, the consistent performances from the top 2 makes up for a title race the league has been missing for a while.
