This fist pump from Harry Winks at full time showed what a huge result this was for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur turned on the style in the second half to stun Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 encounter at the Wembley yesterday.

With the influential duo of Harry Kane and Dele Alli missing, Spurs had to reshuffle a bit but Pochettino’s young side showed grit to dominate the game and Lucien Favre’s men now have a huge task at hand to turn the tie around at the Signal Iduna Park.

After a rather quite first half, Son Heung-min broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart before Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente sealed the match in the last 10 minutes.

Captaining the side in the absence of Kane, Vertonghen had a stellar performance against the German club and fully deserved his goal as well as the man of the match bong he was awarded later.

While the Belgian stole most of the headlines with his robust performance, Tottenham fans did well not to miss this bit of passion from Harry Winks at the full time whistle.

The 23-year-old had a good night himself and was highly involved in Tottenham’s play.

Just as the referee was about to signal the end of the fixture, Winks seemed to be overfilled with passion and was spotted pumping his fists as soon the whistle went off.

With Tottenham going into the second leg 3 goals to the good, a solid performance in Germany should take them through to the quarter finals and fans should be bracing themselves to see more of such gestures from Winks and his teammates if that happens.
