We are about halfway through the transfer window and rumours are spreading around like wildfire. Links are made from literally every statement made by players and Lucas Torreira seems to have fallen into the trap this time.

The Uruguayan had an impressive first season with Arsenal as he provided the much-needed depth in the midfield and turned out to be a fan favourite amongst the Gooners who’ve often compared him to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.

In a recent interview with Ovacion, Torreira expressed the difficulties over settling life at London. He stated:-

The language [barrier] has stopped me, to be able to relate with my team-mates and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue.

And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy.

It is strange a little bit, the sun, the more of us that we are here and we are accustomed to having always or almost always the sun. But as the years pass, I’m going to be adapting.

These statements shouldn’t come as a surprise because it’s common for foreign players to have difficulties while adjusting to the life in the Premier League in the beginning.

He’s being linked to join former Sampdoria manager Giampaolo who has taken over AC Milan and apparently wants the midfielder to join the club in their quest for Champions League football.

Torreira in a way has shut down these rumours through a post where a young member of his family is seen donning the Arsenal jersey.

His family has travelled to Brazil to support the midfielder who is currently with the Uruguay squad competing in Copa America.
