Watch: Gabriel Jesus sees red for gruesome kick on opponent’s face

Gabriel Jesus was sent for an early bath by the referee after the Manchester City forward perhaps forgot which sport he was playing and planted a UFC-style flying kick on Eugenio Mena’s face.

The incident took place during the Copa America quarter-final fixture between Brazil and Chile at the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The Selecao were sluggish for most parts but still managed to win the game 1-0 after substitute Lucas Paqueta found the back of the net in the second half.

Tite’s men will face Peru in the semis but would have to do without the services of Gabriel Jesus, who was shown the least controversial red card ever with a challenge very reminiscent of Nigel De Jong’s tackle on Xabi Alonso and Sadio Mane’s takedown of Ederson.
