Spursy strikes again as Tottenham ‘bottle’ Antonio Conte announcement on Twitter

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the appointment of Antonio Conte as club manager in true Spursy manner. The Italian is regarded as one of the best managers in world football and joins the club having signed a bumper 18-month contract worth £20 million.

The announcement comes a day after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked as the club manager, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy along with managing director Fabio Paratici earmarking Conte as his successor.

However, while a jubilant Spurs fanbase savoured the much-anticipated unveiling, the club, yet again, stayed true to its stereotypical manner.

As fans repeatedly refreshed the club’s social media pages in anticipation of the announcement, the club deleted their official announcement post as soon as it went online, leaving Twitter in splits, yet again.

The post – displaying Conte holding up Spurs’ 21/22 home kit – was taken down after Twitterati pointed out a childish error in the caption.

Reading “Bienvenido”, meaning Welcome in Spanish, the now-deleted tweet highlighted the social media team’s misjudgement on Conte’s nationality.

However, having rectified their mistake, love alongside banter soon poured out for Spurs’ new manager across social media, with many fans taking to the Italian instantly.

Conte will be in charge of his first game for the club on Thursday in the UEFA Europa Conference League and joins them in the hope of securing top four and challenging for a trophy this season.

Take a look below at some of the funniest tweets in the follow-up to his announcement.
