Jürgen Klopp’s men continued their romp in the UEFA Champions League, maintaining their perfect group-stage record with an incredible 2-0 win over FC Porto.

The undisputed prime highlight of the game was midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s dead-eye strike straight from the heavens to get his side on the scoresheet, one which has left the fans in awe of the Spaniard.

It was a tough tussle for the relatively depleted Liverpool in the first half at Anfield as the Portuguese visitors sporadically conjured up half-chances, proving to be a handful for the Reds’ backline. Neither side was able to break the deadlock as the match remained level at the stroke of halftime.

The Merseyside outfit, however, looked revitalized in the second half with former Bayern man Thiago at the centre of things.

At the 52nd minute mark, Oxlade-Chamberlain was handed a free-kick which was cleared out by a rival header, but only as far as a surging Thiago who sweetly struck the ball on the bounce from way outside the box, depositing it goal-wards with searing pace.

The slow motions revealed the sheer ferocity of the kick which skimmed its way past the keeper in a flash, nutmegging a couple of Porto defenders on the way. The turf-surfing goal got the Reds off the mark and was inarguably one of the best of the competition so far.

Mo Salah joined the party too, as he waltzed past the Porto backline and walloped the ball to the bottom corner handing his side breathing room with a 2-0 lead.

Liverpool thus secured their fifth straight win in Group B, widening the gap between them and second-placed Porto to a mammoth 10 points.
