Former Liverpool player Rickie Lambert goes full anti-vax on Instagram

Does the name Rickie Lambert ring a bell? Probably not.

Well, he’s your random ex-footballer of the day, the former Liverpool and Southampton striker hung up his boots back in 2017, after having spent 5 years in the top tier of English Football.

The former English International enjoyed a magnificent spell in the championship, winning the player of the year title for the 2011-2012 season.

After terminating his contract with mutual consent from Cardiff City, Lambert seems to have distanced himself from football.

The lifelong Liverpool fan did gain relevance yesterday after fans discovered his Instagram account, revealing his rather radical opinions.

Following in the footsteps of former Saints striker Matt Le Tissier, a figure who he was often compared to during his stint at St Mary’s, Lambert seems to be a member of the Covid vaccine resistance.

A gander at his Instagram account reveals a plethora of anti-vaccination posts citing government conspiracies and his page even features a post defending Matt Le Tissier.

Le Tissier was slammed for spreading misinformation about the vaccines and ‘putting lives at risk’, due to the baseless theories he regularly shared via social media.

Lambert took to Instagram to leap to the defence of the former striker, with the caption saying, “To those who ridiculed this man, hang your head in shame”.

The striker’s union however didn’t garner much appreciation from fans online, who critiqued Lambert’s radical opinions.
